View Full Version : The trade that the Mavs need most

Forget getting a big man. What we need is to trade Nellie's worthless ass and it's lack of testicles for a coach with both balls still attached and functioning.

Let's start talking to see who we can get. Pat Riley, Larry Bird, maybe even pry Jerry Sloan away from Utah. See what they want to turn loose the guy. Draft picks, money, a player whatever. There is no way that the Mavs can beat the Fakers in a playoff series with Nellie the cowardly lion as the coach. Nellie pisses himself in fear just looking at tapes of the Fakers.

The Fakers are good, but are beatable. The have a lot of talent, but so do we. Our coach just lacks a spine when it comes to beating this team. And they are the team to beat.

So I say we say hasta la vista to Nellie and tell him not to let the door hit his cowardly ass on the way out and see what we can do to swing a deal for a coach with some testicles.

No argument from me. I've fed up with Nellie's pathetic gutless act against the fakers. Jerry Sloan has taken two teams to the Finals and if not for one Michael Jordan would have two rings to show for it. But the Mavs even giveing up one of the abouve mentioned player would have more talent than he's ever had to work with. And just look what he's getting out of Utah. I swear the Man could squeeze water from a rock if it was talent. And no question about Jerry having a set.

I absolutely agree with you LRB. That is one of the reasons Nellie has NEVER been to the NBA finals as coach. He can bellyache all he wants about how he has never had a big guy...yet he has been the GM here for years and even when he wasn't GM he went with guys like Manute Bol, Randy Breuer, & Paul Mokeski. The only Bigs he ever had (1)ran him out of town in less that a season (Patrick Ewing)and (2)made him trade him(Chris Webber).

I would sport a woodie for months if we could get Sloan in here......

I was also disappointed to read about Nellie saying that it was painful to watch tape. Although, it may be true, why even voice it out? A coach should always show confidence it his team. That's just typical Nellie. Its frustrating at times. Just like that, Nick's "F' em" attitude is gone.

i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif A cow with udders and a woody. Not something that I'm really dying to see in my lifetime. I'll still take sloan. Just have to ban Bogey for the 1st month is all. i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

I agree that Nellie must go. MavsKiki says it well in his signature. LRB, I hope that you don't mind me quoting you in my signature.

I've been fighting hard not to let myself get down on Nellie this year. I've been telling myself to take a "wait and see" approach. And that's what I'm going to continue to do. But last night, Nellie was a coward. No doubt about that. You don't bail out on your team in the middle of the game, and you don't go into the game expecting to lose, dammit.

Been saying it for two years:

Nellie-master of the undersell. If Dirk is an MVP candidate, he opens himself up to criticism when he doesn't force-feed the ball to him. If Nellie gives his team props, he opens himself up to criticism when they lose. If nellie doesn't say this team is overacheiving, he opens himself up to criticism when they underacheive.

As long as Nellie lowers expectations, he won't be chastised for failing to meet them.

And if everybody sucks, then Nellie is a genius.

I applaud your effort KG. I've tried, but last night was the final straw. If our team had come out focused and played hard and got beat by better talent, I could live with that. But all that chickenshit trikery that Nellie tried to us. His cowardly statements. And how absolutely horrible the Mavs have done against the Fakers in recent years where we've had tons of talent, maybe not as much as the Lakers, but lots of talent none the less. Meanwhile other similarly talented teams and teams with tons less talent are having head and shoulders better success against the Fakers. But none of those teams has a coward of a coach like Nellie who is scared shitless just to watch game film of the Fakers.

I want Nick Van Exel to be our coach.

OK thought I'd post my trade proposal here:

1.

Dallas trades: PF Antoine Walker (16.4 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 4.4 apg in 36.4 minutes)
SG Marquis Daniels (4.1 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.8 apg in 6.5 minutes)
Dallas receives: C Greg Ostertag (6.6 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 2.0 apg in 30.7 minutes)
C Keon Clark (2.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 13.5 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -11.9 ppg, +2.1 rpg, and -2.7 apg.

Utah trades: C Greg Ostertag (6.6 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 2.0 apg in 30.7 minutes)
C Keon Clark (2.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 13.5 minutes)
Utah receives: PF Antoine Walker (16.4 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 4.4 apg in 18 games)
SG Marquis Daniels (4.1 ppg, 0.7 rpg, 0.8 apg in 11 games)
Change in team outlook: +11.9 ppg, -2.1 rpg, and +2.7 apg.

Mavs add the max cash kicker + 2 future 1st round picks and anything else of value that we can legally trade that isn't a player on our roster.

2. As a condition for the above trade:

Utah trades Jerry Sloan to Dallas in Return for Don Nelson.

Talent wise we take a huge bite. Ostertag will help fill some needs, but the cost is high. Keon is K-Rap IMO. But we get rid of our biggest single problem, Nellie. We have to make the pot real sweet for Utah. We take a crappy relative high dollar player for their payroll. We give them a Rookie with great potential that is cheap and an allstar Player. Both are good Nellie type players. Add in to future #1 draft picks, sure they'll have to wait a while to use them, but they're useful in trades.

Dallas finally gets a coach with an attitude. Someone who can help Dirk make it to the next level. We have a good rotation at center, Bradley/Ostertag/Clark. We give up an allstar, but get a coach that should be able to get more than what we gave up out of the players that we will have. Sloan has never had so talented of a team and that's saying something. Mavs lose the soft label and learn to play D.

Nellie is good at building teams and attacting talent. So it's not that bad of a fit for Utah. They'll just need to get a real coach once the talent is in place.

What do you feel the chances are of Cuban getting rid of Nelson after this year? I would love to see Pat Riley conducting this symphony

If Nelly wins the championship, then he's here to stay. I can't argue with that one too much.

If Nellie wins the WCF finals, but blows it against the Leastern conference he'll probably stay. If we have a major injury in the Finals such
as Dirk in last year's WCF, he'll almost assuredly stay.

If Nellie makes it to the WCF and Dirk or another major player or two go out with injury, then Nellie will probably be back.

If Nellie makes it to the WCF and loses to the Fakers with everyone healthy, it's a good chance he'll be back.

If Nellie makes it to the WCF and loses to anyone but the Fakers with everyone healthy, then it's highly possible that we won't be back.

If Nellie doesn't make it to the WCF but loses to the Fakers, then he'll probably be back unless it's in the 1st round then he'll probably be gone for not getting us HCA.

If Nellie doesn't make it to the WCF but suffers a major injury loss like Dirk, then it's probable that he will be back.

If Nellie doesn't make it to the WCF, doesn't lose to the Fakers, but has everyone healthy, then it's possible he'll be gone if we lose in the 2nd round, highly probable if we lose in the 1st round.

If we don't make the playoffs, then Nellie is toast.

I agree Nelson needs to grow a set, but a traditional fundamentals type like sloan won't maximize the potential of an unorthodox team like this one. I'd rather have riley than sloan.
