View Full Version : Finally....a realistic Walker Trade

I'm sick of the point forward experiment. Trade him.

Dallas trades: PF Antoine Walker (17.1 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 5.1 apg in 37.9 minutes)
Dallas receives: Your moms old douche' bag (1814 uses over 62 years)

Your mom trades: One old douche bag (1814 uses over 62 years)
Your mom recieves: PF Antoine Walker (17.1 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 5.1 apg in 37.9 minutes)

TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Dallas being over the cap and your mom being over the age of social security, the "Even-Steven" trade rule is invoked. Dallas and your mom had to be no more than $2.18 apart in actual value for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here since your moms old douche bag is basically worthless too. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Why Dallas does it:
It is time to scrap the obviously deficient point-forward experiment. The old, well-used douche bag might be used to clean up around the locker room. According to one well placed assistant coach in the know, "The summers eave scent might just get some of these guys going again. It has been stinking badly here this year."

Why your mom does it:
"That old douch bag has been laying around without a use in the world for years" according to good ole' mom. At least with Walker, I get someone who can reach the peaches on the top shelf from time to time. I can afford the actual $2.18 that Walker is worth if I don't eat out once a month.

If you are going to trade Walker, at least get something that you don't already have, instead of replication of what is already here.
Just joking......Not enough humor on this board when the Mavs are not winning.

My opinions on it are:

Cleveland trades: SF Darius Miles (9.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.4 apg in 25.3 minutes)
C Zydrunas Illgauskas (14.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.5 apg in 30.2 minutes)
Cleveland receives: PG Tariq Abdul-Wahad (6.6 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 0.9 apg in 16.7 minutes)
SF Antawn Jamison (15.3 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.1 apg in 29.7 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -8.5 ppg, -5.5 rpg, and -2.8 apg.

Portland trades: C Vladimir Stepania (2.4 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.5 apg in 9.6 minutes)
SG Ruben Patterson (6.7 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.5 apg in 22.4 minutes)
C Dale Davis (6.1 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.4 apg in 28.3 minutes)
Portland receives: PG Tony Delk (6.6 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 0.9 apg in 26 games)
PF Antoine Walker (17.1 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 5.1 apg in 34 games)
Change in team outlook: +8.5 ppg, -1.5 rpg, and +2.6 apg.

Dallas trades: PG Tony Delk (6.6 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 0.9 apg in 16.7 minutes)
PG Tariq Abdul-Wahad (6.6 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 0.9 apg in 16.7 minutes)
SF Antawn Jamison (15.3 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.1 apg in 29.7 minutes)
PF Antoine Walker (17.1 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 5.1 apg in 37.9 minutes)
Dallas receives: SF Darius Miles (9.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.4 apg in 31 games)
C Zydrunas Illgauskas (14.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.5 apg in 35 games)
C Vladimir Stepania (2.4 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.5 apg in 28 games)
SG Ruben Patterson (6.7 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.5 apg in 24 games)
C Dale Davis (6.1 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.4 apg in 31 games)
Change in team outlook: 0.0 ppg, +7.0 rpg, and +0.2 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

Why Cleveland might do it: They want to get rid of Miles, and Ilgauskas, and Jamison would help them greatly with Lebron. TAW could work for them as well.
Why Portland might do it: They get rid of Patterson's contract, and get quality out of Walker/Delk. They change the look of their team.
Why Dallas should do it: You get Davis, Ilgauskas, and Stepania for bigs, which moves Dirk back to the 4 where he is comfortable. The big 3 are back in tack, and can know their roles. Patterson can play some D, and if not Howard can. Miles has length as well. Davis, and Patterson will bring the toughness needed. The gelling time is shortened dramatically, because your big scorers are now Dirk, Steve,Mike,Big Z, Howard, the rest. As a bonus you get rid of TAW's contract.

Dallas Lineup:
C Illgauskas/Bradley/Davis/Stepania
PF Nowitzki/Fortson/Najera
SF Howard/Miles/Patterson
SG Finley/Daniels
PG Nash/Best/Stefansson

Then if Sabonis wants to come to play for the last few months, drop the Icelander, and pick him up as well. Then you would have a truly big lineup to play with the Big Boys.

I think this would make the team much better in terms of who does what, and defense. You could have a team that could work in the half court, as well as play up tempo. This team should be able to defend much better. It has more role players, and less volume scorers. It has size. It gets its efficiency back. It should be able to rebound. It has veteran leadership, and yet is not "old". It allows for changes to be made in the future, and still allows for this years run. It allows you to dictate, instead of trying to find a mismatch. It allows you to make a mismatch when you want it. It allows for a starting 5 that know and work with each other, and not multiple starting 5's each week. It allows for each person to know their role, and it be a consistent role. It allows for injuries, but is weak at backup PG if Best doesn't step up soon. It is a big Dropoff in offense if Dirk goes down, but that is true today as well.

I probably wouldn't do either side of this as a half of the deal. It is giving up too much for what you get. But as a whole trade, it makes sense to me. Walker/Delk for Davis/Stepania/Patterson should be a no brainer for them. Jamison/TAW for Illgauskas/Miles isn't much better. I do believe that the team it leaves you with in the end is a better "team" that can do more things though.

Just my opinion though.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why I would make the trade..............

Before this season started, what did the Mavs need to win it all?
1) Center that can play D and a little O.
2) a SF that could Rebound, and defend. Keeping Finley at the 2.
3) Some nastiness
4) Ability to play the half court game (sometimes), instead of running out of gas.

The trade above would do all of that. In order from above.

1) Illgauskas and Davis will fill this for sure, with Stephania giving his 6 fouls.
2) Drafted Howard, and Patterson/Miles are both better defenders than Walker/Jamison
3) Davis, Patterson - need I say more.
4) Illgauskas has some low-post game, Dirk can move back outside, Miles can dunk if nothing else. Patterson has that elevator as well to take it to the rack. Davis' game is offside rebounding and put backs.

If we stop looking at the players, and start looking at the "needs" of this team. This trade would work for all involved.
I hold no allegiance to either of the AnTwins, and look at all the players as pieces for the Mavericks to win the Title.
If the TITLE is the goal, this trade makes sense. If they win it all this year, then all the "Why's" go away.............

The trade puts AW back as the #2 behind Zack Randolf in Portland, and allows them to let Rasheed walk for the cap savings.
The trade puts AJ in as the #2 behind Lebron, and adds to thier low-post game.
The trade fills the needs of the Mavs--- instead of trying to "Jell" with too many players with the need to be #1 or #2.

I see no downside to this trade.

Count me in....this is exactly what the Mavs need to do....

I don't know how many bad contracts the Mavs have to take back...I'd do the Portland deal...as long as we don't have to take Pothead Stoudamire...I'd be interested in working something with Portland though I really like this deal....

I like the Cleveland side also.....not so sure they'd bite.....

IMHO....best thing about the Golden State trade...got rid of esch's contract....
hating giving up Van Ex & Avery though

best thing about Boston deal...getting rid of Raef's contract....

now if the Mavs could just turn Walker & Jamison into something useful....

I don't dislike Walker for this team. He can still bring passing and second-chance scoring at his position.

Having said that, I would pull the trigger on the trade above (no not the one for the douche bag, the other one).

Walker is valuable, but Davis, Patterson, Stepania, et al. provide the necessary role players this Mavericks team needs right now. It would be an improvement in rebounding and defense for the Mavs, and push Jamison to pick-up the scoring opportunities with the touches that Walker would have gotten.

I like the trade above but i dont think it works for all parties...this might though

Dallas trades: SF Antawn Jamison (15.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 29.8 minutes)
PF Antoine Walker (16.5 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 4.9 apg in 37.7 minutes)
PF Tariq Abdul-Wahad (16.5 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 4.9 apg in 37.7 minutes)
PG Tony Delk (6.9 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.9 apg in 16.8 minutes)
PG Travis Best (3.2 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.9 apg in 13.0 minutes)

C Zydrunas Illgauskas (14.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.4 apg in 29.9 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +6.8 ppg, +6.5 rpg, and +3.5 apg.

Portland trades: PG Jeff McInnis (12.4 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 5.3 apg in 33.6 minutes)
SG Ruben Patterson (6.6 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.6 apg in 22.4 minutes)
SG Derek Anderson (6.8 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 2.0 apg in 14.8 minutes)
C Dale Davis (6.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.5 apg in 28.8 minutes)
Portland receives: PF Antoine Walker (16.5 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 4.9 apg in 36 games)
PF Tariq Abdul-Wahad (16.5 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 4.9 apg in 36 games)
PG Travis Best (3.2 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.9 apg in 30 games)
PG Kevin Ollie (5.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 3.3 apg in 36 games)
Change in team outlook: -7.5 ppg, -2.4 rpg, and -0.3 apg.

Cleveland trades: SF Darius Miles (9.1 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.4 apg in 25.0 minutes)
C Zydrunas Illgauskas (14.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.4 apg in 29.9 minutes)
PG Kevin Ollie (5.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 3.3 apg in 18.6 minutes)
Cleveland receives: SF Antawn Jamison (15.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 36 games)
PG Tony Delk (6.9 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.9 apg in 28 games)
SG Derek Anderson (6.8 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 2.0 apg in 4 games)
Change in team outlook: +0.7 ppg, -4.1 rpg, and -3.2 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

Cleveland wants a pg that can shoot...Delk gives them that on top of Jamisons and Derek Andersons scoring. I dont think cleveland is willing to give big Z and miles for Jamison and the worst contract in Basketball sooo you gotta give em more. I think this is a "no-brainer" for them

Portland: This is a dream come true. They get rid of 2 of their more horrendous contracts. Ollies Contract lasts for like 4 more years, but its small and hes a stand up guy. Walkers contract can be up after this year. They take TAW because they get rid of 2 bad contracts and take on one. Think about all the cap room they have when Wallace and Best are off the books, Walker either opts out or waits a year and Stoudamires contract is up. 2 years from now they are in salary cap heaven

Dallas: We more than fill the void in the middle. Think about it when we give Dirk a rest and we have Big Z and Davis on the floor at the same time, thats some interior defense for u. We also get a good Defensive PG and SG in McInnis and Patterson. Miles is a project whose length could also help our zone

Rotation

Z/Davis/Bradley/Fortson
Dirk/Fortson/Davis/Najera
Howard/Patterson/Miles
Fin/Howard/Patterson/McInnis/Daniels
Nash/McInnis/Daniels

Don't worry.
Walker is leaving soon. He will then be followed by Nash who hates playing here and will be off to Toronto and then Jamison will leave because he says he doesn't mind coming off the bench but he has been telling anyone who will listen that he hates playing for this team behind the scenes.
He hasn't bought a house for a reason because he wants out too.

Then you can have Dirk here, by himself taking all the shots. (not playing defense with himself)

It fits you faker fans perfectly.
They call the Lakers the Fakers but I think you so called Mavericks fan are the real fakers.

Mavericks fans new nick-name0Faker Mavs fans.

I actually think its kind of funny that u Have Celtics Pride in your sig and yet you insult half the players that came from your team. We are just critical of our players...we dont go to the point of saying that arent good players...i even give walker credit when its due

Celtics Pride is dead so I could care less about that team anymore.
I wasted enough time rooting for that team when the owner wouldn't spend any money and made stupid trades.
If a player deserved Celtics Pride I would give it to them
Larry Bird- Deserved it.
Danny Ainge- Not in any lifetime.
Bill Russell- Deserved it
Paul Pierce- Does not (wouldn't know loyalty if it hit him in the a$$. As long as he gets his points and credit. He is happy. Though he is ten times the team player certain other whiney anointed stars are for certain other teams. Well at least he was at one time)
Kevin Mchale- ahh in the middle. Deserved it his playing days, Now a days he has different loyalties.

I call it like I see it.

Now back to the subject.
Jamison really wants out. You do realize that don't you?

and when did anyone on this board give Antoine credit for anything?
Never happened. Not unless they were trying to be sarcastic.

I'll give AW his due. He is as close as I have seen to a Charles Barkley type player - (close to 20/10). He doesn't really fit. He has awesome game, but not conventional. He is a volume scorer with a herky/jerky style. Unfortunately, I would trade him in a heartbeat to get the players that the Mavs need to win it all. I would trade any part that is not Dirk to do it, and Dirk if it would get Duncan.

They couldn't play good enough defense last night to keep the Knicks from coming back from 20 down. They need interior defensive big men. They need to be able to play with the Big Boys. They need to be able to run, and to play in the half court on offense, and be a shut down team defensively when they need to. With the current makeup of this team, they are unstoppable on offense when they are on, but totally average when their shot isn't falling. They do not have the makeup to get the defensive stops when needed.

I would be willing in a heartbeat to make this team the Big 3 again, and put in place the pieces needed to put them over the top. The question is, what is needed to put them over the top? What did we get? What do we really need? How do you get it done? When fans stop worrying about their "favorite player" and start worrying about the prize "TITLE", I think that most would make some of the trades that are suggested on this board. If we make a trade, their will be backlash; if we don't; there will be second guessing, -- but if we win it all - All Problems are Resolved!!!!

While I agree with you regarding all of the unnecessary one-liners and emoticons from MightyToine and DannyAinge for that matter, I will say that it is hardly ok for you to jump on someone for "cluttering" threads or boards when your thread was to trade Walker for a damn douche bag!!! A thread such as this one should get just as much negative criticism as do those that deal with WALKER SUCKS, NO WALKER RULES!!!

I mean come on man! How much more unnecessary are the one-liners than are the ridiculous trade requests... We have all been bashing these two lately, but rooks and gurus all need to look at what they post and ask: "Was this worth posting"! I stand by this question: If either MT or SDA had posted this exact same thread, would you have enjoyed it and posted in it or would you have called them out for being a dumbass? I like ya buddy and we get along great, (I still want that beer at Georges), but you know I am right here!!! i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

Fare enough! If you think that comparing a trade with "Your moms old douche bag" and Walker is credible and post-worthy, (both regarding bandwidth/cluttering and it being proper), as opposed to the things we have heard from MT and SDA, I will just say OK! i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

This board thrives on a nice balance of serious discussion, sarcasm, comedy, etc. What gums is up and/or gets everyones panties in a wrinkle is the absurd idiocy that we have been seeing. It causes a lot of our long time members to go silent. There is nothing wrong with a comedic post. There is nothing wrong with a serious post. There is nothing wrong with a sarcastic post. There is something wrong with stupidity, idiocy and troll mimicking behavior.

Hey, I said I would just say OK... Im not going to argue with you, nor will I agree with you... I simply thought that this type of a thing should remain in the lounge, where the comedy should exist... To my knowledge, this board was for serious trade talk, which would likely prevent a trade for an "Old Douche Bag"!

But in general, I like to laugh like everyone else and be sarcastic like everyone else... Im not a prick that cant loosen up, which is why I DID laugh when I read this, and why I wasnt going to say a thing about it... BUT, then I read you calling out others IN THIS THREAD about what they were saying that was "clutter" so I thought I would just point out that a thread like this could be viewed as clutter in this forum too!

You make great posts and I love reading your "funny" stuff too... I was just trying to make a point to you so that you might be a bit easier on these "idiots" as you call them... They are getting destroyed in just about every thread in some form or fashion, and I think they should either be left alone or banned... We are no better for calling them names than they are for being what we call them!!!

I still wouldn't have found it funny regardless. Comparing any of the mavs to " a douche bag" is just pointless toilet humor and yes....this crap SHOULD'VE been put in the Lounge so those of us(who don't bother to go there) won't have to see it. i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif

If I wanted Jokes, I'd visit any ESPN Messageboard and laugh at the trolls(who are the jokes). Or go to The Lounge as your friend mentioned.

I just dont want you or anyone else that can actually provide good quality posts, (though many on this board would question your abilities to do that), to get banned for fighting... Its not worth it!

If someone says something to you, just report it and move on... You will gain respect that way and the other person will get dealt with the proper way, as opposed to you cursing or something... I know man, as I have a bad temper and have been on the wrong side with Mods myself... I am doing the best I can from here on out to let most things slide off of me... Think about it, are you EVER going to let him win, (DrBio that is)? Probably not!!! And dont you think he feels the same about you? So someone has to stop, and you are on a much shorter leash around here so just chill man!
