MILWAUKEE, Feb. 24 (Ticker) -- Another convincing win by the Minnesota Timberwolves was merely an afterthought.

Sam Cassell scored 29 points and Latrell Sprewell added 23 as the Timberwolves held on for a 108-102 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, who lost rookie point guard T.J. Ford to a scary injury in the final minutes.

Minnesota never trailed after the first quarter and dominated most of the game but did not celebrate much after the late play that created some tense moments at the Bradley Center.

Ford was driving to the basket with 4:34 remaining when he collided with Timberwolves forward Mark Madsen and came down hard on his tailbone. He laid on the floor nearly motionless before he was tied to a stretcher, wheeled off the court and taken to a hospital for X-rays.

The Bucks used the loss of their teammate to spark a rally and pulled within 103-100 on Keith Van Horn's 3-pointer with 16 seconds left. Sam Cassell and Fred Hoiberg combined to make six Kevin Garnett16 points, 18 rebounds and six assists for Minnesota, which has won 10 consecutive meetings with Milwaukee dating to March 29, 1999.

Van Horn and Michael Redd scored 25 points apiece to lead the Bucks, who lost for just the eighth time in 30 home games this season

Before his freshman year at Texas he was diagnosed with spinal stenosis(sp?), the same injury that forced Michael Irvin out of the game. He was scheduled to have surgery but decided against it. Hopefully his being carried off on a stretcher was only precautionary and this is nothing. It would be a shame for such a promising career to end so soon.

Yup, apparently he sprained his neck. He reportedly could not feel his extremities while he was lying on the court - but regained feeling when he was being loaded into the ambulance.

He spent the night in the hospital for observation and did not make the trip to Boston.

Get well TJ.
