My list of Final eight teams to make playoffs in no particular order:

Sacto
Minny
Dallas
LA
SAN
Grizz
Jazz
Blazers

My guess is that Blazers and Jazz will replace rockets and Nuggets.

3.....SA
4.....LA
5.....Dallas
6.....Mem
7.....Hou
8.....Jazz

Sacto and Minny are no-brainers by now and Sacto is my favorite to win it all this season considering how well they have played this season without there superstar CWebb. When he comes back, he will start off slow cause of the time off. But come playoff time he sould completely back. So they get the top spot over Minny. Despite Duncan's injury, its not like he tore his ACL or something that bad. He will be back in a couple of games so SA will still get that thrid spot. The Lakers have had a tough season but I fully expect this team to get hot down towards the end of the season and roll into the playoffs, especially when Malone comes back. He will be the one to reunite this team together and get them playing much better. Sorry you guys but.......I believe the prophesy of Dallas being taken out in the first round will come true, simply because they will face the real Lakers. It will be a dog fight to the end for the sixth spot between the Grizz and the Rockets. But the Grizz will come out the winner and there reward......facing elimination in the first round at the hands of SA. Houston will get the seventh spot barring a huge meltdown of epic proportions. This I believe will set up the big upset of this years playoffs as Houston will take out Minny. After seeing there last meeting in which Houston dominated a health and rested T-Wolves team, the Rockets have what it takes to take them out. And if Minny loses atleast two games in the first round series, thoughts of the first round jinx will begin to creep in and take over there mindset, thus setting the Rockets up for the kill. Dont underestimate that Rocket team, for when they actually show up for a game, they can be one of the most dangerous teams in the West. For having a good defens gives you a chance to win any game on any night. The Rockets have one of the best defenses in basketball. From there, the Rockets will proceed to make it an intersting series with SA in the second round as they have played them relatively close in this season with the exception of one noteable blowout. They will make the Spurs work and sweat it out to win this series as they will push them to the limit, seven games. I think the Jazz will replace Denver simply because the Nuggets have faltered a bit and seem to be fading while the Jazz are on the rise. The Jazz will give make things a little interesting in the first round series with Sacto but the Kings will simply be too tough in the end.

IMO:
Sacto
Minny
Dallas
LA
SAN
Grizz
Rockets
Blazers

I think this leaves all of the above scratching their heads. LA/San is a classic. Memphis plays Dallas in a way that D doesn't like. The Rockets can hurt Min. The Blazers have enough athleticism to cause Sac some problems. I expect this to be fun. I also expect the highest ranked team to win each series.

SA won't get to # three, they have too many weeks of Duncan out. Not enough games left for me to think that D will catch Sac or Min, although I think they can beat either in the playoffs. LA holds its own destiny and could be either out in 1 or the champs, depending on how they actually play come playoff time. I have seen most Dallas games, and many others this year, and Dallas's O can trump any of the D played by any of the top 4. The question is, will it be on for those games?

I expect Round 2 to be Sac/LA and Dal/Min.
I expect WCF to be Sac/Dal.

Sike, you are showing remarkable optimism. I wish life was this easy. Even if we manage to overtake Minnesota, which would be nice because then we'd have homecourt against them in the 2nd round, Denver won't get the seventh spot, that would be too easy. Although even if Houston is in seventh place, we're in good shape. Conclusion: getting the second spot would be awesome.

The refs?

Everybody else from Texass is in bed with Bush so I wouldn't be surprised if the teams are getting a kickback for something. i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif

Because everyone knows the Midwestern Division is the best division.

If the Mavs can beat Minny tonight, we have a very slim, outside shot at #2.
I also think that Duncan is hurt a little worse than SA is saying publicly. I don't expect him to be 100% for the rest of the season.

don't the top2 seeds of each division automatically become top 4 for the conference?

1. Kings; they're on a roll, Webber looks good, they'll continue to roll
2. Twolves; on a roll for the most part, already well ahead of anyone else in the West
3. Lakers; have 8 road games left in season, fewest of top 5 teams in the West. will start rolling with Malone back next week
4. Mavs; have 13 road games left, a couple long road trips, so a very tough end of season schedule. but I'm confident they'll stick here
5. Spurs; Duncan injury will cost them at least another 1 or 2 games, probably more, plus they have 9 road games left
6. Grizz; have 11 road games left and tough teams at that (Minny twice, Lakers, Mavs, Spurs once). but already 11 games above .500
7. Rockets; have 12 road games left and play tough teams like Minny, Lakers, and Kings, but they're already 9 games above .500
8. Nuggets; have 11 road games left, some tough teams, but they're 4 games above .500 and will want to surge after recent 5 game losing streak

Outside chance for 8 is the Blazers if Nuggets don't get it together.

But thats only in the first round. Once you go to second round the home court goes to the team with most wins (or better record in a tie breaker situation).

I am very confident now that Jazz probably will knock out nuggets from the playoff race. I wanted Nuggets to make it but am also pulling it for Sloan to make the playoff. What a great coach Jerry Sloan is.

My guess looks somewhat realistic now since portland is giving LA some A$$ kicking and GSW is giving Rockets some A$$ Kicking.

Not the top 8 but interesting numbers. computer program looking at all of the possibilities and probability of the final 4 finishers. As of last nights minn-sacto game. I really don't know how it's calculated. Here is the link if interested.

Not to say that I could have done a better job, but it's funny to read the predictions of how the eight playoff teams will shakedown only one month ago.

Well, might as well throw my hat in the ring:
1. Minnesota
2. Los Angeles
3. San Antonio
4. Sacramento
5. Dallas
6. Memphis
7. Houston (but barely)
8. Portland (also barely) -- this means Denver or Utah might still have a chance at the 6th spot.

Let's see how close I'll be just one week from now.
