Well we are pretty darn sure who it aint. Its not going to be Dallas or Houston. Its not going to be Utah or Denver who I expect will both miss the playoffs.

Lets look at who it might be:

1) Minnesota - 50-24 (8 games left, 4H-4A)(Games against playoff teams or almost playoff teams=5) Home games-Sea,Was,Mem,Utah...Away-Hou,Sac,GS,Mem.(Last 10=5-5)(Division Lead 1.5 over SA and 2.5 over Memphis)
With 2 games left against Memphis Minny is in danger of not only losing the division but homecourt as well. They will need at the very least to go 4-4 with one of the wins against Memphis. Their only real gimme is Washington as Seattle and GS have played much better lately.

2)San Antonio - 48-25(9 games left,5H-4A)(Games against top comp=7)H-Clev,Sac,Sea,Port,Den...A-Utah,LAL,LAC,Port(Last 10=6-4)
The Spurs do not have an easy finish 6-3 would be good and a 54-28 record...is that good enough to make up 1 1/2 games for the division? They have only 1 gimme in the Clipps although they should beat Sea and Den at home and they absolutely own Utah. So thats 4 with the other 2 at least being Port and Clev at home. If they can beat the Kings or sweep the Blazers I think they win the division.

3)Memphis - 47-26(9 games left,3H-6A)(Against Top comp=8)H-Phoe,Clev,Minn...A-Atl,Minn,Utah,LAL,Phoe,Dal(Last 10=8-2)
While the schedule is not too kind they do have 3 cupcakes that are sure Ws if they show up to play and they have 2 games against the team that is 2 1/2 up on them. If they can go better than 6-3 with a sweep of Minny they could win the division.

So the Midwest could well go down to the last week.

Unless Minny collapses, they're winning it. A 5-3 finish should secure it for them.

5-3 probably would do it for Minny, yet they have been a .500 or below team for the last several weeks. To be absolutely sure they will need to sweep Memphis...If they split then only SA can catch them...but if by some strange occurance Memphis sweeps them...then its a wide open game.

If they can't beat Memphis at home, they deserve to lose the division.

It will be Minnesota. Like I've said since I've been able to talk,"there's always next year..."

Ummm Shaq...at the end of the season they will have all played the same number of games so there can't be a 1/2 game either way.
