Hamas Leader Killed in Israeli Strike

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) - An Israeli missile strike killed Hamas leader Abdel Aziz Rantisi as he rode in his car Saturday evening, hospital officials said. Rantisi's son Mohammed and a bodyguard were also killed in the attack.

The militant Hamas leader was one of Israel's top targets after it assassinated Hamas founder Sheik Ahmed Yassin in an airstrike last month.

Rantisi's car was hit with missiles Saturday evening on the road outside his home, leaving only the burned, destroyed vehicle. After the explosion, Israeli helicopters were heard in the area.
Since then, Israel has vowed to kill the entire leadership of the Islamic militant organization.

Israeli sources said Saturday they struck at Rantisi at the first available opportunity and said he was planning a large attack on Israel to solidify his leadership of Hamas and to retaliate for Yassin's killing.

Israel has been on high alert for a suicide bombing since Yassin's March 22 killing. After Rantisi was killed, Israeli prisons holding Palestinian prisoners went on high-alert, fearing possible riots.

During the mourning period for Yassin, Rantisi was defiant about Israel's threats against him.

"We will all die one day. Nothing will change. If by Apache or by cardiac arrest, I prefer Apache," he said.

You are welcome.. Nice shooting boys...

Dang.... I didn't think that Hamas was getting Democratic National Party talking points.

The verdict was near unanimous amid the tears and rage on Palestinian streets after Israel killed Hamas leader Abdel-Aziz al-Rantissi in an air strike Saturday that many Arabs felt President Bush (news - web sites) must have approved.

"Bush has Rantissi's blood on his hands," said Khamis Saadi, among tens of thousands who swept into Gaza's shabby streets.

"We will all die one day."

Nice paraphrase of John Maynard Keynes.

That's one of the dumbest things I've ever read.

If someone was dedicated to killing you, your children, and every person that shared your faith, you would do anything to stop him. If it means killing them before they kill you, then you do it. If someone pulled a knife on you, would you pull your gun, or would you let him stab you? If someone were strangling your baby in front of you, would you shoot him in the head or let him kill your baby?

The goals of the terrorists and the goals of Israel are not even comparable. The terrorists are using the murder of innocents as a method to intimidatation. Israel is carrying out precise attacks on those directly responsible for terrorist activity. Notice that there was no collateral damage in the Israeli strike. On the other side, Hamas responded by promising to kill as many Jews as possible. These poeple lives aren't worth worth shit to me. The world is a better place without these murdering fucks.

This is war. If you don't beleive it, listen to the leaders of Hamas. Until recently it has been a war with one side fighting and the other side dying. Now, thank God, Israel and the US has finally decided that this IS a war worth fighting. Rantisi's assasiniation was a victory in this war, and I will celebrate victories in war.

The Israeli assasination policy is working. The terrorist leadership in Palestine is being crippled.

If that saddens you, then you are on the wrong side of the war on terror.

Just another good reason to be glad this scum is gone.

Independent Media Review Analysis has a useful backgrounder on Rantisi, which includes this quote, from April 9:

We say to the Muslim people of Iraqi, we are with you in you're struggle against the American terror and destruction, we are with you in your war in defense of Islam. We say to the fighter and commander Moqtada al-Sadr: Hamas stands by your side and blesses your Jihad (holy war) and wishes you with the help of God, that you will win and be victorious.

Since Rantisi was on the side of our enemy in Iraq, all Americans should celebrate this murderer's demise.
