Its not working.....there has to be a better option....I mean Im beginning to question why Nellie would go sign a guy whose been playing golf & drink beers for 2 months. I mean does this sound like a guy who expected he would be playing again this season. He still says he needs more time,.....also their was a possible stress fracture in his foot...What about TODD DAY ???? he was recently released by Minnesota. He can play the 2 or 3 ...He's 6'10" athletic....He played in the old Southwest Conference....But if not maybe Wang ZhiZhi can take Maxwell's roster spot. Plus maybe we can release Okinna Obzaie(?)

dude, todd day is like 6-5 or 6-6. and he played for arkansas. in the SEC. not trying to be an ass, just realistic.
he can drain the J, though.
I still say the Mavs should sign Khalid El-Amin for the remained of the season. He won't be eligible to play in the post-season, but at least he'll bring some relief to the 1 and 2 guard positions while Kiki works with Max on his shot during practices.
Bench: Najera, Maxwell, Harvey, Bryant

your right he's 6'6" BUT Arkansas was in the Southwest Conference when he played there....

I'll still give him some time. Granted he's been pissing me off with all those bricked shots and missed layups but he'll come around. And also, he adds playoff experience, something the Mavs are severely lacking.
Give him some time, but sign someone else to play in his place while we're waiting!

I still remember when Todd Day, Sherman Douglas, and Erik Murdoch formed the worst guard rotation in league history with the Bucks back around 93-94(their stats were abyssmal...)

instead of playing golf and drinking beer...i'd rather drink whiskey and sit on my ass...is that ok? can i then come play 2-guard for the mavs?
(sorry for the low quality of this post, but i wanted to reach 100 posts)

Star Telegram says ZHiZhi should be here by April 4th. Good lets see what he can do in the last 10 or so games of the season

On Norm's radio show, Nelson said that the only way Wang would get any playing time is if there was a blowout... a'la Bruno Sundov. The main reason he is coming here is to get acclimated to the culture.

Nothing wrong with drinking whiskey and sitting on your ass... Or playing golf and drinking beer for that matter... I do three of those four things all the time...
03-22-2001, 04:55 PM
well...we won't know..and neither will nelson until zhizhi gets in and starts practicing with the team.
if he completely dominates in practice, yes, he'll get some playing time. no, i don't think it'll happen that way though.
it's too early to speculate on what kind of impact wang will have this year and even next year. lets get him in here and see what he does on the practice floor before we count on having any kind of production out of him

personally, i find the name Wang offensive...do you think we could petition to have it changed. if i had children, i wouldn't them running around talking about wang all the time. just a thought

At least Maxwell plays this thing called defense, i know it was hard for me to recognize exactlly why he was all over those guys on the court too. This team reminds me of the Kings a couple of years back.

El-Amin over Maxwell and/or Day??
Ok, who gave DJ the crackpipe!!! i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif
El-Amin plays the point, can shoot the jumpshot and get to the basket, and can be had cheap. We need someone - ANYONE - to back up Nash before the postseason run.
Ahh djbacklash, you don't want Eisley to get to play at all i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif "But Mommy, that's not fair!" i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif
El-Amin was never a great player IMHO, he always looked overweight in college....although he was pretty good.

DJ--Isn't Eisley Nash's backup?????
I like Eisley..just not at the point for extended mins i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif He's just not good at pushing the ball or finding the open man. He's definitely a nice backup for Fin though. El-Amin is a little fatty, but he played pretty well in Chicago despite that pudge. Go figure i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif

I hate el-amin! he and his obesity and illegitimate children can go play somewhere else. he's shawn kemp's mini-me.
Blurb from the DMN about El-Amin:
The Mavericks' interest in free agent Khalid El-Amin would extend to the summer instead of now for one primary reason: El-Amin would not be eligible to play beyond the regular season for the Mavericks since any player waived after March 1 cannot participate in the playoffs.

I don't know how good 5'10 El Amin would work in the west. Granted he's a spark plug but going against. All I can see is Gary Payton and Jason Kidd posting him up and scoring 40 points each time they play him.
El-Amin a Shawn Kemp minnie me. That's hilarious!
