Larry Brown unleashed Milicic tonight - http://www.nba.com/games/20050419/DETATL/boxscore.html. 16 points on 7-11 shooting, 5 boards, 2 assists, 3 blocks in 30 minutes. Not bad really.

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Larry Brown only waited until one of the last games of his second year in the NBA to let the kid play. This is mighty encouraging, I wonder how good the kid's gonna be.

Did anyone see this game?

I've been curious about this cat for some time now. His stat line looked decent. Is he capable of contribuing in the play-offs this year?

nope. He just hasnt played enough. Only 338 minutes over the last two years.

i only saw a recap of the game on nba.com. his shot looked pretty good, and his two assists were nice as well. was hard to tell anything else though.

So he's pretty much a glorified mascot. i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

Unless Larry Brown quits, or Ben Wallace is traded, Darko will never get consistent minutes in Detroit...

I'm guessing his contract runs out, and some team gives him a high $$$ offer, like Atlanta or the Clippers...Detroit won't match, and Darko goes on to be a franchise player/big man for his new team.

Darko did good last night too

I can't help but think how much tougher Detroit would be if they had Carmelo coming off the bench instead of Darko languishing at the end of it.

Carmelo is the anti-Larry Brown

I don't think so...he just needs to be coached. He's responded pretty well to George Karl.

Yea, I don't know how Milicic will ever develop when he has the Wallace's and Mcdyess in front of him.

Then again, he is still young. Perhaps he's a perfect candidate for the NBDL?

Melo would fit right in with Rasheed Wallace.

As opposed to wasting Darko's talents playing behind the Wallaces. i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

Maybe Chris Bosh would have been the best pick for them. They would never had to get Wallace... or McDyss for this year. Wade and Melo are better talents... but for that team, maybe Bosh would be a nice fit.

I really don't like how he's kept on the bench for those two years.

If he's anywhere close the other frontrunners of his draft in terms of talent he deserved more minutes.

There are other rookies who played successfully on a championship caliber team (Tony Parker for example)

I wonder how much he did or did not improve compared of how he could have improved while getting more minutes

I would take Darko over Bosh. Darko is a very talented, very unique player and probably has the potential to be a franchise player. A seven footer with a very nice shot and nice post skill (a lot like Dirk actually) I guarantee you if Detroit had drafted Bosh, and Toronto got Darko, Bosh would be wasting away on the Pistons' bench, and Darko would be flourishing and trying to get his team to the playoffs. Why? Because Larry Brown is an a-hole!
