NBA's Raptors Trade Rafer Alston to Rockets for Mike James
Oct. 4 (Bloomberg) -- The Toronto Raptors traded Rafer Alston, who threatened to quit the team last season, to the Houston Rockets for Mike James in an exchange of guards.

Alston said he would leave the club after a Dec. 3 game in Boston, then was suspended for two games in January for undisclosed conduct detrimental to the team.

The 29-year-old Alston averaged 14.2 points and 6.4 assists last season, when the Raptors tied with the New York Knicks for last place in the Atlantic division.

The 31-year-old James will be playing for his sixth team since joining the National Basketball Association in 2001. He averaged 11.8 points and 3.6 assists with the Rockets and Bucks last season.

Pretty nice pickup for the Rockets. Aside from SG, that starting lineup is looking pretty athletic; Alston/T-Mac/Swift/Yao. Only now their bench is even thinner without James, and they still need a quality 2. They're one the right track though. That team is a few minor moves away from being very very deadly.

Nice deal for both teams. Both teams got better.

I'm glad...James torched JT in the playoffs last season.

Alston is a head case though. If his head is on straight, he is the superior player IMHO.

Houston continues to improve, on paper atleast.

Without a doubt, the great state of Texas is the most feared destination in the NBA.

I think james is a more steady player than Rafer. This might hurt the rockets if you have Rafer and Stro in the starting five everynight. Both have great upside but are not consistant.
