MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Kevin Garnett sat out the Minnesota Timberwolves preseason opener against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday with a sore right knee.

Garnett, who dealt with pain in his knee last season, was being rested as a precaution, according to head coach Dwane Casey.

Newly acquired guard Marko Jaric was also out because he sprained his right ankle in practice on Tuesday. Point guard Anthony Carter missed the game with the flu. Both are day-to-day.

Bucks point guard T.J. Ford, who missed the last 1 1/2 seasons with a spinal injury, didn't make the trip to Minnesota because of a sprained left index finger. He hurt the finger in practice and was expected to have an MRI performed this week. Forward Joe Smith also didn't suit up with pain in his left knee.

Garnett's done.. He's a great player, but all those years of carrying the wolves on his back have taken their toll on him. His situation is similar to Chris Webber, when the kings made their '02 run. They had a great run that year, but that's it.

It's only a matter of time before we start hearing that Garnett wants to play for a "contender."

unless he gets traded, he doesnt scare me, but the guy is far from done. Terry sat out in our opener, but he's far from done. Its the pre-season and this year especially it seems like the stars aren't playing.
