Rockets Close To Trade For Bogans

9th February, 2006 - 3:01 am

Houston Chronicle - The Rockets moved close to a deal to acquire Keith Bogans from the Charlotte Bobcats as soon as today, three individuals within the NBA who had knowledge of the deal said Wednesday.

Bogans, a 6-5 forward/guard who is signed through this season, would offer a strong defender and another catch-and-shoot option.

The Bobcats, devastated with front-court injuries, would likely seek Lonny Baxter in the deal, but because they are under the salary cap, they would not have to make the salaries match.

The Rockets could trade a player with a greater salary or use a trade exception they still hold from last season to make the trade.

IF they can pull off this trade it would be a nice addition.

Let Houston have all the 40%, (and that is being generous), shooters they want!

I think this will put Houston head and shoulders above Dallas.

I'm hoping that ETM and Nash13 have their tongues firmly planted in cheek.

Keith Bogans is not a big difference maker.
Houston is going to have to quit losing to teams that they need to catch (like the Lakers last night...at home) to even have a glimmer of hope at getting the 8th seed.
Don't think its happening. Bogans or not.

They do....but this is a good pick up for that team. Can't be worse than what they have right now.

As a career .391 shooter, are you sure? ;)

If they did not already sign Stro-Swift (which put them over the top) or trade for Rafer Alston (which topped the top), this would defintely put them over the tip-top.

Bogans is a spare who can hit the open jumper....

Bogans is a spare who can hit the open jumper....

In that case he ought to be able to fit in quite well with his brothers David Wesley, Luther Head, Bob Sura, Jon Barry, and Derek Anderson.

Considering the fact that I can't remember any one NBA franchise ever aquiring and hoarding as many scrubby, flawed, journeyman combo guards as the Rocket's have over the last two seasons, I'd just wonder who they might trade for next? Lindsey Hunter? Damon Jones? Maybe they could lure Sherman Douglas out of retirement? The possibilities boggle...

Come on now, just because he's average like Swift and Anderson doesn't change the fact that everything the Rockets do put them above Dallas.

FYI, of course i'm kidding.
