View Full Version : Spurs-Lakers gameday

Watching the game on NBC. Wow, the Lakers stadium intro is cheesy. Helps explain their good home record--other team is still trying to recover from the giggles for the start of the game.

The announcer for the lineups was shall we say ....a little on the effeminate side?

<< The announcer for the lineups was shall we say ....a little on the effeminate side? >>

I have to laugh because I was thinking the same thing. It was something about the way he was pronouncing the letter "r". Let's just say he didn't have a classic announcing voice.

Parker is looking better and better every game.

03-31-2002, 05:32 PM
He sounded like the Big Gay Al character on South Park.

It's Thuper!

Lakers off to their typical slow start....

03-31-2002, 05:40 PM
The Lakers always look so uninterested in the beginning of their games. It's almost scary.

03-31-2002, 05:40 PM
Are the Lakers going to let us down today?

Kobe show so far, and the refs are helping out the Lakers nicely.

03-31-2002, 05:52 PM
WAAAAAY to early to write off the Lakers.

03-31-2002, 05:59 PM
<< WAAAAAY to early to write off the Lakers. >>

Absolutely. But, I remember the Lakers started out like this in SA and the Spurs wiped the floor with them.

Go Lakers. i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif

Forgot to add...

Everytime I see Cherokee Parks, he has a new tattoo. Does he plan on stopping any time soon. Disgusting.

03-31-2002, 06:01 PM
Cherokee was featured in a tatoo mag. I saw it at a gas station . I didn't realize it was him until I saw his name on the cover. To each their own I guess.

MFF- trying to retake ground huh? i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

Well, she can have sixth...after all, I'm gunning for that guy in second. i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif

Im not trying to catch anyone. i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

Im just making my presence known around the board.

Go Lakers.

There playing much better though.

03-31-2002, 06:35 PM
Spurs up on the Lakers at the half. 48-45

The Spurs have kept O'Neil in check so far again. 3-9, he was 2-10 in SA the last time.

Hate to repeat myself, but GO Lakers!

03-31-2002, 06:55 PM
Watching this 3rd quarter, I don't know how the Lakers will win. The Spurs are just a better match it seems. Maybe that beating they gave the Lakers the other week wasn't a joke afterall.

Damnit, c'mon Lakers.

03-31-2002, 07:00 PM
Great looks like the Lakers found a way.

Robinson just picked up his 4th foul, then O'Neil just scored and got the foul. That was Duncan picking up his 3rd foul.

Attack him, get him out of the game.

03-31-2002, 07:06 PM
Go Lakers. Someone please shoot Magic though. I really get annoyed by that guy.

03-31-2002, 07:33 PM
Ooooh. George *almost* hurt Duncan in a bad way.

03-31-2002, 07:53 PM
I can't do this anymore! GO SPURS!!!!

03-31-2002, 07:59 PM
Grrrgh. No foul? Shaq blocked Duncan's last-second shot and Lakers walk with another one-point win....

03-31-2002, 11:23 PM
horrible no call...shaq hacked duncan

<< I can't do this anymore! GO SPURS!!!! >>

Shame on you! i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif We needed the Spurs to lose so we can separate ourselves from them and win the MidWest division. There schedule is much easier than ours now. Although, it is tough to swallow when you say Go Lakers. i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif

<< horrible no call...shaq hacked duncan >>

I thought he fouled Duncan too. Duncan was furious, I was waiting for him to be called for a technical. But, they were in LA and you know your not going to get that call even if your name is Duncan.

What is infuriating is what Shaq said about the call:

``That was all ball,'' he said. ``Even if it wasn't all ball, they owe me that call. There was no foul. I've been getting beat up for 10 years, I've only complained twice in that time. If they don't like it, too bad.''

The nerve of the guy.

Compared to the rest of the game, there was little contact on the play. I watched the replay a couple of times and thought it was a good block. The main problem, for San Antonio, that I saw was that the Lakers were ready for that play. Shaq was focused and played it almost perfectly. It looked like Shaq barely tipped the shot. That's not a foul in LA.

A few minutes earlier on a Kobe circus drive to the basket where he went from one side of the basket to the other and tried a backward flip, Duncan came over and missed the ball and got Kobe's arm. That wasn't called, either. Kobe was looking for the call. I was thinking, "go ahead and shoot a normal shot, there was no need for that circus crap". Kobe made it into a hard shot.

Bad game all around.

LA looked bad winning.

SA looked heartless losing.

NBA looked fake with piss-poor, inconsistent, and erroneous officiating.

I can already sense my interest waning for the playoffs if it's going to be a matter of watching the rest of the league get greased up for an LA championship. No thanks, Stern, Rush, et al.
