The suns are playing Nash, Marion, and Amare deep into th 2nd quarter. Seems like a huge risk to me for no reason, didn't amare just have a bunch of swelling? Also no point to risk hurting steves back either.

I think the Suns are hoping one of those guys will be injured so they can use the same excuse they did last year for not making the finals! ;)

And I think they're full of it with Amare and his swelling.

I think he's going to come out dominating.... and they're going to be like "oh wow, we had no idea!!"

You mean like DWade & his "flu" or "strained hand"? It's an excuse if you lose & an achievement if you win...

Wow Philly came from 22 points behind to 4 points. Would be sweet if they won considering PHX is playing all their starters.

I'm already tired of Bill Walton.

Ah I love a 22 point choke from phx, even if it is a preseason game.

Not very good, had 8 points or something. Stumbled around and fouled a lot.

Amare had 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 turnovers in 19 minutes of play according to the Yahoo box score. Not incredibly impressive.

I think he had a lot of fouls considering he played only 19 minutes.

if you watched the game, he moved really well.. didnt wear any knee braces and had 2 vicious dunks that remind you of what this guy is capable of

from a basketball standpoint, of course he is rusty

go mavs

I thought he looked almost like his old self with the exception of some fumbles and fouls. He had a couple nasty dunks and went sky high for a couple rebounds.

I wasn't nearly as impressed as you two. Sure, he moved ok but he clearly hasn’t regained the thing that made him dominant...his explosiveness. Even on the dunks he didn’t get the kind of elevation that he used to. He’s 6’9 so it doesn’t take much do dunk. When he blows by his man and dunks on the help defender you can say he’s back. Until then, he’s just a good backup 4.

so the dunks he had were of the "wide open" variety?

He didn't get very much elevation on the two that I saw. One of them was off of one leg on the pick and roll. The other was with two off of a rebound.

The thing that made Amare special was that he was too quick for anybody his size to stay with him...not anymore.

He didn't look any better than he did in summer league. It's not that he looks terrible. He's just nowhere near as explosive as he was in 2004. My guess is that he never will be.

my hope is that your guess is right :)

ESPN just showed me a highlight where he rebounded the ball in the midst of three Sixers and forcefully slammed it home. Didn't look like "backup four" stuff to me.

Chum go back and look at it again. He grabed the rebound below the rim and barely got the dunk over the rim. Compare that to the old Amare who used to almost be at eye level with the rim when he dunked.

Could be taking it easy...I guess. The thing is, no player has ever fully recovered from that surgery. Not that he can't be the first but I'll believe it when I see it. Right now he's not there.

Remember, we’re not talking about a skill player. Amare’s edge was that he was an athletic freak.

Also, when I call him a backup 4, I'm referencing the fact that he's playing behind Diaw and Thomas.

Amare looked good enough but was very rusty which is obviously going to happen in his first game back. He was jumping as high as he ever has so thats a great sign for the suns.
