I like that he was annointed Dirk's full-time backup for the future here before the draft even happened.. then again after the draft occured and every team passed on him.. and will probably happen again now, even though he'll probably never make an NBA team.

Maybe Nellie will pick up Pittsnogle. After all he needs a proper back-up for Troy Murphy at center.

If I was pittsnogle or his agent that would be the first call i would make... I dont think hes very good but if anyone can get anything out of him it would be good ole nellie. (plus that keeps him as far away from this team as possible)

No, he's pretty tall and he can make the outside shot, but that's it.

Doc, you don't think he could develop.

After all Dallas is only looking for a player they think in a few years could develop into a contributor.

He is big, and has an outside shot. Other than that, from what I understand -- he has a big bag of nothing.

Could he develop an inside game, some toughness, and defense with time in the D-league?

I don't know, but so far I haven't been impressed with Ebi, Washington, or JJB.

If Nellie can make Wang Zhizhi a serviceable player I don't doubt he could make Pittsnogle one if there's something there.

Xplosion in negotiations to land WVU's Pittsnogle
10/25/06 - Continental Basketball Association (CBA) Pittsburgh Xplosion

PITTSBURGH, October 25, 2006 - The Pittsburgh Xplosion are in serious negotiations with Dan Tobin the agent for West Virginia University standout Kevin Pittsnogle to bring the former Mountaineer to the Steel City for the 2006-07 season. The Xplosion are a member of the Continental Basketball Association which continues to serve as a top-level developmental league, placing 47 alumni on 2006 NBA training camp rosters.

One of college basketball's premier players during his four-year career at WVU, Pittsnogle captured Honorable Mention All-America and First Team All-Big East accolades as a senior after averaging 19.1 points, 5.5 rebounds and shooting 41 percent from three-point range. The sixth all-time leading scorer in program history with 1,708 points, the 6-10 forward guided the Mountaineers to three-straight postseason appearances, including trips to the NCAA Tournament's Elite 8 as a junior and the Sweet 16 as a senior.

Originally signed by the Boston Celtics as a free agent, the Martinsburg, W.Va. native would be able to further develop his game close to home by inking a deal with the Xplosion. WVU's Morgantown campus is just over an hour from Pittsburgh.

The dynamic big man would also be afforded the opportunity to work with several individuals affiliated with the Pittsburgh organization who have significant ties to the NBA. General Manager Freddie Lewis captured three titles in an 11-year pro career in the NBA and ABA; Armon Gilliam, a 13-year NBA veteran, returns for his second season with the club; and five-time NBA All-Star Tim Hardaway serves as co-founder and chief basketball operations advisor for Trinity Sports and Entertainment Group which is the Xplosion's parent company.

"Kevin possesses a unique group of skill sets. With his size and ability to shoot the ball from distance, he has the potential to create match-up problems at the NBA level if he can refine some of the other phases of his game," stated Gilliam. "Part of the reason that I am still doing this is that I love to work with the younger guys. I know what it takes to make it at the next level. If I can impart some wisdom and help a guy like Kevin achieve his dreams it makes it all worthwhile."

The Club 4 Life in Monroeville, Pa. serves as the The Xplosion's season kicks-off on Friday, Dec. 1 when the team travels to face the Albany Patroons. The club's home opener is on Wednesday, Dec. 6, against the Indiana AlleyCats. Season ticket packages start at $125. Call the Xplosion ticket office at (877) 410-9900 for more information.

You're thinking of Mike Gansey who was Pittsnogle's teammate.
