Diaw hits a three to cut the lead down to 6...this game is not over. Twolves need to get KG in the block...and this is where the Twolves suffer because KG is not a dominant offensive force.

Well, Suns missed a jumper to cut it to 4...(EDIT: Nash missed the jumper)

Perhaps clarification is needed. To the Suns this one loss will not affect their overall team confidence and stellar play or the national media’s sterling opinion and open love fest of them. I obviously agree that every loss for a (THE) rival is good for the Mavs chances of winning the West.

Man you people are harsh.

The Wolves HAD to shoot 60 percent to win. Garnett was unstoppable and the Suns were playing their 5th game in 7 nights.

Yet it was still anybody's game inside of 5 minutes.

Hopefully that comparison was very unfavorable to the Suns, as the recent performances of Federer and Woods dwarf what the Suns have accomplished to this point (since it does not involve winning a title of any type).

Regardless of the reasons, a loss is a loss. Does it surprise you that Mavs' fans are happy that the Suns now have just as many losses as the Mavs?

On an unrelated note, is there any reason why Amare wasn't trying to check KG down the stretch? Marion isn't big enough to give KG much trouble in the post, or at least he wasn't tonight. It would seem that the next guy to step up to try to cool KG off would be Amare. Any thoughts (from Suns' fans or non-Suns' fans)?

Garnett was hitting fadeaway's all night. He had very few layups and dunks. He was spinning back away from double teams and nailing them all.

Earlier this season during one of our win streaks we played 5 games in 7 nights I believe, and it didn't affect us.

And to say that they "had to shoot 60 percent" is lame. They did, and the suns lost.

That's like me saying "chicago HAD to hold us to 30% shooting to beat us, and even then we were still close in the last 5 min!!". I mean that's all fine and true, but a loss is a loss.

I'm really not trying to be defensive, because you're right, they lost.

But look at it this way -

The Suns

- shot 50 percent as a team

- made 15 3's at a 41 percent clip

- shot 92 percent from the line

- had 6 players score in double figures

- had only 14 turnovers

Most nights a line like that equals "win".

So where Dallas could look at Chicago and say "We beat ourselves" the Suns just have to tip their hat to the Wolves. They got outscored. It's bound to happen on occasion.

Had the Wolves shot their normal 45 percent, the Suns win. Heck 50 percent. Typically, they hold their opponent to around 43 percent. This was their worst opp FG% of the season.

Oh and BTW, the Suns also swept a 5 in 7 stint this season during THEIR first streak too.

Mavs fans are understandably happy that the Suns lost, but I get the feeling that most here attribute the streak to luck anyway.

It takes more than luck to win 17 straight.

Great point. Any team with those stats be the end of a game is going to get a win more times then not. KG was just a monster last night and hit everything. It was one of those nights where nobody was going to stop him. It didn't matter what team he was playing or who was guarding him. That's what is great about the NBA. I just don't understand this argument. You are right any team with those stats at the end of a game is going to get a win, yet Phoenix did not. There is something wrong with that! I mean they let Minny shoot 60% from the field! How many of those games are you going to win? I believe the death blow in the playoffs last year is when Dirk scored 50 on them. The only trouble there, jacktruth, is that you can keep going in circles forever with that kind of reasoning. Which is to say: a stop for one team is just as good as a stop for the other, is it not? What Phoenix concentrates on is preventing the other team from getting stops.

A stop not made, a stop allowed...what's the difference?

You sound like someone that's never watched a game.

If this point were sound, then the terms offensive-minded teams, defensive-minded teams, fast teams, slow teams, etc. would be meaningless.

I'm not going to argue with you about this further because I know that's not your real position on the issue; instead you're just saying that because you like picking on people.

Of course those terms have meaning. What is not at all certain is what the implications are when teams of varying designs meet.

If you think you have all the answers for that, go ahead and put them forward. You can put a whole lot of analysts out of business with one fell swoop.

What don't you get? The point was that more often then not the other team won't shoot 60% and won't be able to match your offensive numbers. They are still on average holding teams to 45%. That will get it done most nights as indicated by their record. So most nights they are getting it done and stopping people when it counts. They struggle only in game when it comes down to the last shot (a la our boy Dirk). How often does that really happen though? Once a month...maybe. Once a series.

1. This game didn't "count".

2. The Suns still allow just over 45 percent shooting for the season so far, which is good enough for 12th in the league. The T-Wolves 60 percent has to be viewed as an aberration until they start making it a habit.
