Phoenix at Golden State (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/preview?gameId=270329009)

yet another chance to check out a couple of potential playoff foes.

last night it was rox and clips, from which we learned that the Rox play some pretty good defense and that Steve Javie writes the game re-caps for ESPN*....

*....that Javie wrote the article helps us understand why the controversial ending which featured an egregiously bad call by Javie is never mentioned in the ESPN game re-cap (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=270328012).

egregiously (ĭ-grē'jəs, -jē-əs) Conspicuously bad or offensive. See synonyms at flagrant. It must have been a bad call not a flagrant foul! By this picture it seems that Javie was saying, "you think that was a bad call?"

the warriors are nothing....this game means nothing. They have a rowdy crowd and they can win one or two games in a series. They remind me of the Sacramento Kings back in 2000 with jason williams throwing crazy passes. In a 5 game series, yeah they might be scary, but in a 7 game series no way.

Hmmm...how interesting. Assuming the suns lose tonight they will be 6-4 out of their last 10 and only.......2 games ahead of the spurts...

With a back-to-back tommorrow and dallas on sunday. Hmm...how incredibly interesting.

We should be rooting for Phx to tie and go to overtime, and eventually lose. This destroys the Warrior confidence and tires the Suns out for tomorrow.

Maybe the Suns tanked the game to improve GS chances at the 8th seed. :)

The Suns did not come to play. It wasn't just Steve either. The entire team didn't play any "D". I think it was Raja Bell and Shawn Marion's defense that was more suspect then Nash's. They picked on those 2 first then exploited the matchup with Steve. Steve wasn't pulled because of that. He was pulled in spite of that. If I was GS I would have some confidence going into the playoffs if they make it.

What we learned from the game:
Nellie will kill anyone that tries to out-smallball him, he wrote the book on that shit.
Too bad he can never beat Popovich or PJax to save his life.
Warriors, when they are on, are still dangerous. They have wins against us, Suns, Detroit and one against Spurs as well. They would win one or two against us in a possible matchup. I just think that the Clippers will take that 8th spot, and then we will own their depleted backcourt.

EricaLubarsky
03-30-2007, 01:26 AM
Clippers are a train wreck. Ive been cheering them on since the warriors had that win on us on the B2B, but every game Ive seen them play has been a horrible nightmare. They jack up shots like mad-- like 32 foot 3s on the break with no one rebounding (wth?) and they play a high pick and roll which wins them....a 5 second shot clock with no advantage. The only thing they have is Brand. Warriors winning the "tough" games means that the advantage the Clippers have will disappear.

and suddenly the entire NBA is wrapped around the Dallas Mavericks and Mark Cuban. Whether its Nash/Nowitzki rivalry,

or the Spurs (and Finley) trying to get back at the Mavs for last years defeat. Pops faces his pupil!

or Nelson trying to get back at his old employer

or "wow records are being broken"

or "Mavs shoot for Heat for some revenge"

or Dirk vs. Sheed/Webber.

Stern must be turning in his grave right now. He hates Cuban and the Mavs and yet they are the source of a lot of his products success.

Nellieball is cute, and a lot of fun to watch in the regular season, but this kind of gimmickry isn't going to work against halfcourt teams with deep benches. See you in the first round.

Not only that but it should sign and seal Nash not being MVP. Also, teams that play 0 defense will always let you back in the game which is why we shouldn't "fear" GS in the first round.

One last thing....maybe Phoenix just isn't that good. Other than Nash, Amare and Barbosa, the rest of the team just seems to play without consistency. That will happen nearly every time when you play an offense with no controlled system. They just pass the ball like a hot potato until a guy gets open, but with no real system to what they are doing from what I see at least. Without control, comes turnovers, something that will for sure lose you games in the playoffs when opposing teams tighten the screws.

oh, and im sure Dallas lost to Phx on purpose too?

Sure the suns have lost 4 in a row, but when the played us nash showed that he is the mvp and he has still played consistent ball (even though his team cant seem to follow suit). Sunday ill look for him to once again prove that he is more valuable than dirk, at his court this time.

I don't think there's anything Nash can do Sunday to make up for the fact that after bringing his team within 2 1/2 games of first place, he hasn't been able to keep them from sliding to seven games back, effectively eliminating any real possibility of securing HCA.

Couple that with the fact that he STILL makes Mike Bibby looke like a HOF'er (perhaps you FF when the Suns are on the other end of the floor), I think Nash's MVP hopes have one leg firmly in the grave.

And I realize that its pretty difficult to look up past game results, but the Mavs are the ones playing for a series win on Sunday, not the other way around.

Completely different situation. Look at Nash/Amare/Marions minutes from this game. Around 26 per? That's not the normal suns rotation.

You think phx wouldnt LOVE to have gs nab the 8th seed?

the reason nash/amare/marion sat for the fourth quarter is because nash/amare/mario had gotten their butts kicked for the first three. the suns were down something like 25 points going into the 4th, and coach mike dan tony went with his scrubs to start the 4th. when the scrubs made a big push in the 4th, coach tony did what every coach in the league would do, he let the scrubs see it all the way to the bitter end.

i think it was one part better defense and two parts the warriors wearing out and letting up.

funny, but now that i think about it....

they played a clip of nellie talking about protecting a big lead in the 4th quarter. Nellie talked about the need to "keep doing what got you the lead in the first place" and then he said something to the effect of "a few years ago I had a team in dallas that had about a 20 point lead in L.A. but got beat in the end. we were a pretty good team, too."

I could've friggin' screamed when he said that. How dare he vaguely remember this? I still have vivid nightmares about them blowing that 30 point lead.

Oh Gawd, that was the worst. If memory serves, Nellie had Van Exel in there for the entire fourth while Kobe was going nuts. Adrian Griffin had kept him completely under wraps for the first three quarters. After the game Nellie said something like, "yeah, looking back at it, maybe I should have kept Griffin in there."
