Game One is over....

The Pacers just beat the New Jersey Nets to take a 1-0 lead in the best of five. Wow.

Very cool. New Jersey will probably win the next three but they now know they were in a series.

am i the only one who isn't stunned? i knew indy would steal at least one game in jersey.

now what would stun me is if the nets took the next 3.

I thought Indiana would be a tougher matchup (for NJ or anyone else) than most of the predictions I was reading. They have a good mix of youth, experience and assassin (Reggie). I was surprised that they had to scramble for the last playoff spot.

NJ really has a question to answer now-- Brass or papier-maché?

I wasn't surprised that Indiana won one against NJ. After all, on paper, Indiana has the talent to *be* the #1 seed in the East. And for the same reason, I saw this series going to 5 games.

But I will be surprised if Indiana wins the series. And absolutely amazed if they can get out of the 2nd round. Because I think Isaiah is one of the worst coaches in NBA history.

isn't it a little early in isaiah's career to make that statement?

Nope.

*If* he were to improve (a lot) and 3 years from now has become one of the top coaches in the league, then my statement will still be true now. I would only have to add the qualifier, "when he started as an NBA head coach . . ."

I don't see them play that often so I'll take your word for it...I was really pretty bummed out when Carlisle didn't get the job, but now I'm glad he's in DET doing so well.

The Nets are cruising tonight - up 16 at this point.
