good lord, i was not about to try and read all that...

right now at work, i'm jamming to some dave matthews (crash), and i also brought in bob marley (legend). no country right now, rob, but i recently went on a trip, and willie nelson is the BEST driving music, no doubt about it.

but the extent of my country cds are willie nelson (greatest hits & one other cd), garth brooks (greatest hits), tim mcgraw (greatest hits). not much of a collection.

oh, and dj, that family values tour cd (with "outside") is actually pretty good overall. it's got some good limp bizkit, filter, primus, and staind. but i hate korn. can't stand that crap. only song of theirs i even remotely like is freak on a leash.

and a cd i bought recently that is just awesome is coldplay (they sing that song "yellow"). damn good cd.

i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif Somebodys got alittle too much time on there hands i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif .

Great choices. I also suggest "Troublesome '96" by 2Pac. It's an awesome song, and I think you can only find it off his greatest hits album.

that 2pac greatest hits is actually really good. one of the few rap cds i have. i like rap ok, i don't know why i don't have that many rap cds.

04-05-2001, 01:23 PM
I haven't bought a cd in months. CD burners are a beautiful thing i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

a lot of rap fans here...don't any of you guys listen to good ole hippy jam band music??? Not to say I don't still catch up on rap...still into Gang Star, De La Soul, Tribe and Outkast quite a bit, but my tastes have changed over the last 5 yrs or...so, here's some of my favorite bands these days:

Widespread Panic
Grateful Dead (really any Jerry Garcia will do)
North Mississippi All Stars
Leftover Salmon
String Cheese Incident
Jefferson Airplane

and on a little different tip, zeppelin, jimi, and mr. marley are all pretty good. This is what college did to me, not to mention hanging with a "mind altering" crowd. But I'm clean now...well, at least not in a permanent haze now...

04-05-2001, 03:37 PM
Here's what I listen to: (My Favorites)

Creed: "Faceless Man"
Creed: "Pity for a Dime"
SkinDive: "Tranquillizer"
Korn: "Blind"
Metallica: "Enter Sandman"

04-05-2001, 03:42 PM
Metallica: "Enter Sandman" i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif

I used to listen to that CD when I was like 10 years old i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif .

amen to that, scooter....and apparently someone doesn't know how to utilize the cut and paste function, either.

Now, now children...

i'm actually listening to the metallica black album right now at work. also brought in steve miller band greatest hits.

So, Crippler, you're one of those guys? please tell me you don't follow those bands all over the country. i like that music ok, but i think they have more obsessed fans than any other music genre.

The Crippler
04-06-2001, 10:24 AM
nah...don't follow em all over the country. Only when they are in places that I can get to easily. Last summer, i lived in Taos, and caught the Panic at Red Rocks (3 shows), and River run in Keystone. Also went to Nashville and Memphis and caught them at Beall St. Festival. Of course, made the Dallas and Houston shows as well early last summer. I agree big boy that some of the fans are ridiculous and need to get a life, but to each his own. I do really enjoy the improvosational skills of these bands though not to mention the music rocks. The vibe at the shows is unbelievable (especially Red Rocks), so I can see why some people do follow them. A few of my good friends spent all last summer on tour, but I couldn't do it full time.

04-06-2001, 10:27 AM
I was in Taos for a few weeks last summer..awesome place i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

04-06-2001, 10:47 AM
Rob stop being a dick you were inferring that Scooter a lot of time to write those songs down when I'm sure it took him less than a minute. Grow up.

Big Boy Laroux
04-06-2001, 10:48 AM
yeah, crippler, i think they're all good bands, but the cult following kind of scares me...

i saw panic at the beale street music fest, too. i went to school in memphis.

Somebody doesn't understand sarcasm. Man.

04-06-2001, 11:23 AM
that's always your excuse ain't it. i'm not buying it rob.

04-06-2001, 11:31 AM
Ok but that doesn't mean you need to ruin the joking around going on between us and others.

04-06-2001, 11:34 AM
rob, you are the only person on this board i got a problem with, so don't try and drag others into this.

04-06-2001, 11:38 AM
And your the only one on this board who has a problem with me. For what reason, I don't know.

04-06-2001, 11:40 AM
for making stupid comments...and i'm not the only one, it's pretty obvious.

04-06-2001, 11:42 AM
Am I going to have to separate you two? i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif

04-06-2001, 11:43 AM

hey dj, where did u stay in Taos?

Big Boy, beale st. rocked last year. That's the first time I had heard the N Miss. Allstars. They are one of my favs now. Are you going this year. Memphis is a great town...love the BBQ joints all over.

nah, not going this year. a lot of the same bands in that fest are going to be in the Nashville River Stages (i live in nashville now), so i'm just going to that.

but last year's did rock. IMO, the best show was sevendust. man, they rocked. a little heavier than what i normally listen to, but they were incredible. i was actually disappointed in creed. they had some nice pyrotechnics, but the lead singer is such a goober, always posing like he's jesus.

and as far is memphis is concerned, it's a cool town to visit, but believe me, you would never want to live there.

creed has sold out...first album was pretty good, second blew i thought. I thought the Foo Fighters put on a pretty good show, but I only caught a little of it b/c I watched most of the Allman Brothers show down at the other damn end. Damn, that was a hella walk!!!

04-06-2001, 01:31 PM
I did the SMU in Taos program so we all stayed at the Fort Burgwin campus about 5 mins down the highway. It was pretty cool..hiked up a million mountains (climbed Wheeler Peak, highest point in NM), chilled at the Taos Spa every day, and did some gambling too i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif I love that place! Michael's Kitchen is definitely one of my fave restaurants!

nothing like the "au natuaral" hot springs, huh dj? If you are ever go back, try Eske's brew pub. Good food, and good microbrew.

Wheeler is a bitch to get up though. I almost had to quit, but once up there, you are on top of the world.

I lived between Taos and Angel fire in a house with solar power and no phone for a couple of weeks with some hippies I met at the park while the place i was renting was being rennovated. Talk about being isolated...I got my head back on straight while i was there though. If anyone ever needs to do any "soul searching", I highly reccomend the mountains of New Mexico.

04-06-2001, 02:44 PM
What's the name of that park where all the hippies lived and sold smokes? Man I was also on the verge of giving up (climbing in sneakers is a pain) but these freaky brown furry animals with long claws were coming up fast behind me (no joke).

04-06-2001, 02:48 PM
Damn freaky marmet! (http://www.dallas-mavs.com/images/marmet.jpg)

that is one hell of a walk. and they always put the best acts on opposite ends, and it takes about 45 minutes to walk between them.

foo fighters were good. dave grohl climbed up on the lights and everything. pretty sweet. and he is downright hilarious.

marmets....LOL LOL LOL!!!

those things are vicious!!

04-06-2001, 06:04 PM
Well, I don't see how you were being sarcastic at all. In case you haven't noticed, sarcasm has to have some sort of humour in it.

04-06-2001, 06:11 PM
And it isn't just Hales...

dj- "I'm ashamed of you Rob. You are the Allen Iverson of Dallas-Mavs.com

On second though..

In fear of the Iverson fans on this board, I take that back. You are the J.R. Rider of Dallas-Mavs.com"

bobcat- "Nice. He steals MY ideas for topics from another site, and then admits to stealing the comics he used to collect.

djbacklash, I hope you're happy with the greed inspired by this contest of yours ... $Rob$ has turned to the dark side and it ain't very freakin' pretty."

Me- "You were boasting of this. This makes you an azzhole.

You then say you were ashamed of it. This makes you a liar."

Can you pick it up now?

04-06-2001, 06:12 PM
