Detroit fans booed the Canadian national anthem last night. What a totally classless bullshit thing to do to our neighbor and friend Canada. I was embarassed.

Here is a link. (http://espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2002/s/2002/0422/1372480.html)

After further investigation, evidently the Vancouver Canucks booed the Star Spangled Banner a couple days ago. Of course both sides excuse is that it that they were booing the teams not the country. Regardless in both cases it is disgusting, and there are no excuses. I would be embarassed to be a fan of either franchise.

Detroit fans are up there with Phily fans as the worst.

At least teh Canuck fans can argue that they were booing because we dropped a bomb on their troops a couple of days before.

I agree Dooby, actually I don't care whose national anthem it is, you don't boo it. That's disrespectful and it's simply stated LOW CLASS!!!!

Blame Canada!!! Blame Canada!!! I found it kind of funny but yet it is very disrespecting that the Detroit fans booed the Canadian Anthem. The only reason I found it amusing is that it reminds how in the tv show Southpark always rips on Canadians.

Boooooooooooo....

Who gave the stupid raptors the right to play their silly french-canadian anthem in a good American arena anyway?

Am I the only one that found it funny? It's just stupid Canada, Who Cares!!! It's not like canada's a real country, it's just America Jr.

It's A stupid anthem anyways, I would of done the same thing.

It is offensive. It just is. Ask a veteran if it is OK to boo the Star Spangled Banner. Then ask a veteran of the Canadian Army why their country should be treated differently. And God forbid you say anything bad about Australia on this board.

Hey if you found it funny, I don't begrudge you, but I have my opinions too. I think anyone who disrespects ANYONES belief in something is WRONG... I have no respect for that in itself.

Kid, that is a little bit of a broad sweep you are making there.

dooby...you don't have to disagree with someone's beliefs..but to disrespect someone in such an issue as this wrong

the canucks fans booed during our nat'l anthem last night so they are just as much in the wrong...

Murphy3

yes, of course hales..even a bit moreso..because it is "our" anthem

but booing either anthem is wrong

Drbio
04-24-2002, 07:29 PM
Hales- absolutely. It is reprehensible and most people here agree (except for the attention seekers or rabble-rousers). I would think someone to be a no-class punk if they booed anyone's national anthem...even Russia, etc. it's justa reflection on a poor upbringing of little values. Just my opinion.

With all due respect, their wrongful behavior really shouldn't be a factor...

<< yes, of course hales..even a bit moreso..because it is "our" anthem >>

Please state your case, I strongly disagree...

Dooby, for disrespecting someone's belief is wrong. IMO. You may feel a different way but I don't view that as being decent. Now I'm not saying ANYONE has to agree with it or like it, but disrespecting, well that's something different entirely.
