Bobcats Sign Cavs Holdout Varejao To Offer Sheet

December 4, 2007 - 11:42 am

AP -
In need of a big man, the Bobcats reached agreement Tuesday on a three-year offer sheet with Cleveland restricted free agent Anderson Varejao, giving the Cavaliers a week to match the deal or lose him.

Financial figures were not available. Varejao's agent, Dan Fegan, could not immediately be reached.

The 6-foot-10 Varejao has been in a prolonged contract dispute with the Cavaliers, which has kept him sidelined this season. He said last week that he would prefer to be traded.

Can't blame the guy, I'm not sure I'd want to play with lebron sucking up all of the oxygen and dollars.

He's not a superstar, but this is a great signing for Charlotte, especially since May is out for the season and Okafor's durability issues.

Okafor, Hermann, Brezec, Varejao is a pretty scrappy front line that is going to frustrate a lot of teams in the east IMO.

Not trying to exagerrate the signing.. this will probably help the team by 3-5 games.

You really think he adds 5 games to that team?

I think from 30 to 33-35 wins isn't that out of the question... 5 games IS a lot, I agree. But, I would hate to go up against that frontline, especially in our big-man weak league.
