There's been a lot of talk that they'd waive him or Troy Hudson so they could sign or trade for a backup pg. They've been mentioned in some trade rumors so it'll be interesting to see what happens next.

ordinarily, i'd laugh at any team acting so abruptly to sign a player, only to release him.. especially since its golden state but DJ is one of the most humble and well put players in this league and being tossed around like this has got to take toll on his professional and personal life. I wish him all the best.

Heh, is not like he's not being remunerated by that. He has made a billion times more money than I did last year and worked less. He'll be fine, I hope he saved some money.

DJ badly needs to go to europe where he can get some playing time. He's desperate for it.

I disagree, you can't be a bust unless you were drafted in the 1st round.

Is he KP? unfortunately yes.

He'd be great for the circus... not for the NBA

DJ is the definition of bust

A bust? I think in order for someone to be bust, there has to be some kind of a pedigree or promise to indicate that they might be a productive player. DJ never had any such thing. He's an incredible athlete, but from what I understand, when the guy came into the league at 25 I think it was, he had virtually no basketball experience. Nor did he seem to have any natural knack or talent for the game. I knew from day 1 that he was never going to have a real NBA career, and I never quite understood why anyone else around here seemed to think that he, or Pavel Podkolzine, would.

Manute Bol. Gheorghe Mureşan. Shawn Bradley. You get 7-0 or over, and everybody has hopes. 7-5 or over, and people get BIG hopes.

There was talk earlier when Hudson was first injured that Payton could be signing there and it has come up again now that DJ has been waived.

payton should join Boston not GS, I know its his hometown and all but there's no point to join the Western Conference if it isn't for San Antonio, Dallas, or Phoenix.

Maybe the Mavs could hire DJ to replace Mavs Man and Chris Arnold. Kill two birds with one stone.

YES. He needs to join a highly prospective Championship team. It's what he is good at afterall...

Not a bad signing for a backup point guard. It's certainly a safe move for the rest of the season or until the Warriors make a trade. If they make one.

Warriors Sign CJ Watson

January 7, 2008 - 4:11 pm
DraftExpress -

The Golden State Warriors have added point guard CJ Watson, who becomes the ninth call-up of the current D-League season. A 23 year-old in his second year out of Tennessee, Watson was selected 5th overall by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the 2007 D-League draft. Watson will receive the first 10 day contract of the season from a NBA team.

In 16 games with the Vipers this season, Watson averaged 26.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. In his last game against the Austin Toros, the point guard finished with 42 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists in a closely contested double overtime loss.
