Lakers May Sign Mbenga
When asked if there was anything percolating Thursday, Chris Webber's agent said, "Not with the Lakers."
"I think they're trying to figure out what they're going to do," Aaron Goodwin said. "The Lakers know of his interest, but we won't push to make it happen."

The Lakers might be closer to signing DJ Mbenga, a 7-footer who was cut last week by Golden State. Mbenga, who attended Thursday's game, averaged 1.2 points and 1.9 rebounds for the Warriors in 16 games. -- Los Angeles Times

One temporary option to shore up the Lakers? frontcourt -- especially fitting the Lakers? defensive and rebounding priorities -- would be to call up Jelani McCoy from their D-Fenders minor-league team. McCoy, 31, was on the Lakers? 2001-02 championship team.Orange County Register

Good for MBenga. I hope they don't cut him if they sign him.

He couldn't do any worse then Kwame Brown could he?

They signed him to a 10 day contract today.

Lakers lose Trevor Ariza to a broken foot. He was playing really well for them off the bench.

mbenga is now logging his first minutes as a laker. This might be the start of a legacy.

He just blocked a shot into oblivion.

he's averaging 19.2 blocks per 48 as a laker-- Mavs need to figure out a way to get him back.

I still like him a lot better than JuHerp...

His line isn't that bad. Poke fun all you want but not bad for his first game and with a team like the Lakers where they expect perfection each game.

I was not at all happy with the way Humble Billy intentionally misprounounced his name when he got into the game a few weeks ago when GS was visiting Dallas.

They have good fundamentals coaching in LA. If he stays the rest of the season, he will be a much better player. I would like to see him do well.

I noticed that too and thought the same. All of a sudden Humble can't call him DJ now that he's not on our team anymore? Kinda rude for someone as hardworking as DJ was here, IMO...

How did he pronounce it?

How did he pronounce it?

"Diddy-er Umumumumumbenga."

It was bullshit. I hate you, Humble Billy.

I'm ashamed of what Humble B did.

"Diddy-er Umumumumumbenga."

It was bullshit. I hate you, Humble Billy. If he had been a more significant Maverick, I'm sure Cuban would have told him to pronounce it "Boo this man."

Cause that's the way we roll, here in Mavs land.

Unfortunately, it is a proven fact that Cuban controls every thing that humble billy says and does.

I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it's tough there. Maybe it was an inside joke?
