TNT announced on Tuesday the addition of the popular basketball shot-making game H-O-R-S-E to its programming lineup during its four days of NBA All-Star 2009 coverage.

The H-O-R-S-E game will air live during TNT's two-hour Inside the NBA presented by Hyundai on Saturday, February 14.

The three players that will take place in the event will be announced at a later date.

Finally, they used to have HORSE competitions back in the 70s pairing up the big stars in the game against each other. I'm glad it is back.

I'm more excited about this event more than any of the others. Definitely a good move.

Steve Nash, Ray Allen, and Dirk should be in this.

Dirk's signature shot alone could cause people some fits.

I'm not sure if this will be geared more towards the super stars or just giving some guys who aren't as well known some exposure.

Why not? I remember watching some youtube videos recently with Pistol Pete against George Gervin. I think it would be great but you're probably right, i doubt any superstar players today would do it.

What they didn't tell you is that Sir Charles will be playing.....$250k a shot.

It's not even called H-O-R-S-E

It is now G-E-I-C-O

Someone PLEASE edit the title to the appropriate name!!!!

That was a dumb move, NBA. You get props for putting in the festivities for the weekend but you get the business because you changed it to G-E-I-C-O...dumb

Sooooo cheesy. This has seriously dampened my enthusiasm for this event. These sponsorship deals have gone too far. I dread the day when I am rooting for the Geico Mavericks of Dallas, or something ridiculous like that.

This isn't an NBA thing. This is not a sanctioned NBA All Star event as far as I can tell.

This is being put on by TNT and is being shot in the TNT studios, correct?

The NBA has chosen Kevin Durant, O.J. Mayo and Joe Johnson to participate in the first-ever H-O-R-S-E contest during All-Star Weekend.

The contest will take place outdoors on Saturday in Phoenix before TNT televises the All-Star Saturday night festivities.

Players will have 24 seconds to execute their shots, and an NBA referee will rule if they're done properly.

That's not too terrible of a list, IMO. I like all of those guys so it should be interesting.

Every game of HORSE requires a lot of ribbing about being the HO and/or the HOR. Otherwise, it's just... making baskets.

Also...is it safe to say that Portland dropped the ball on the Oden/Durant pick?

I think the "stars" don't participate because it's out of their comfort level. They don't want to appear human. They want their losses to be under the umbrella of the team, so it's not directly on them individually. Very few "stars" have done the Dunk contest in the last several years, probably because their ego's can't take that kind of a hit on that big of a stage.
