The Hornets and Thunder agreed to a trade that sent Tyson Chandler to Oklahoma City in exchange for Joe Smith, Chris Wilcox and DeVon Hardin.

One day later, the four players will be going back to their original teams.

Thunder Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti announced in a press release on Wednesday evening that the team has rescinded its trade with the Hornets for Chandler.

“We were pleased to add Tyson to the Thunder roster,” said Presti. “During the course of the physical examination and outside consultations some questions arose that gave us cause for concern. We felt that this course of action was the best for our organization.”

Rescinding trades in the NBA is a very rare occurrence. During the summer of 2005, the Nets and Blazers agreed on a trade that sent Shareef Abdur-Rahim to New Jersey, but it was rescinded following a physical examination.

As I said in the other thread.... time to rape-ify the Hornets!?!

Stack/Williams/George for Chandler works!

It must be something serious for the Thunder to do this. Chandler made a lot of sense for their team.

gotta be weird for the Hornets. I mean they get a chance at a do over, but it's gotta be awkward for Chandler. Hopefully, they are still dead set at dumping him. Not just maybe for the Mavs, but to get him off the Hornets, and maybe they have to make a terrible deal.

Dampier has been better than Chandler this year.

This is true and raises a red flag. Chandler's been pretty injury-proned for a young cat. Assuming he passes our physical, this should actually help lower his trading price.

I'd be hesitant to trade for Chandler now but I'm sure someone will take a gamble on him.

Presti isn't a fool so there had to be something in Chandlers physcial to cause concern to void the trade.

Chandler's been hurt all year. What's Damp's excuse?

Chandler is not better in any part of the game then Damp, besides catching. Damp is a better defender, rebounder, screen setter, and their scoring ability is close, the only reason Chandler gets an edge is because he can catch better, but it not like he can shoot.

I actually like Chandler, but I say give me Damp

Hmm, moot point isn't it? What are you implying? Damp being healthy makes him better than Chandler. There's not much to go on here. Chandler's pretty brittle.

Ok, but Damp + Chandler is better than Damp + Stack + George + Williams. So if we're not gonna get anything else done, we need to pounce. Plus, if NO is desperate enough, maybe we get a future 1st out of it.

I suppose you can always do your own diligence, but I wouldn't expect the Mavs to trade for Chandler after this. If you're trying to capitalize on NO's misfortunes though, only option I can see that would really interest me would be Carroll for Posey.

Word from Dallas is that Devean George blocked this deal.

How about, everyone not named Dirk for Chris Paul?

Could you elaborate on that ?

I don't even care for Chandler much, but is seems impossible that there is enough time to work a deal for him and be confident he is healthy enough before the deadline? Seems like a complete waste of efforts.

I disagree. Chandler can guard the 3, 4 and 5 position. Whenever Damp is mismatched against any position aside the 5 i'm worried. As far as Damp being a better rebounder I guess that's your opinion but its atleast debatable. And i'd love to see what Kidd could do with a big man who actually can catch. That alone is enough to give me him over Damp. Not to mention he's 26 years old.

Stern probably rescinded the trade because he wants nothing to do with deals that benefit Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks.
