Two possessions in a row, Duncan was centering the break. Wonder if he's been watching film of Dirk :-)

If Duncan starts to make three's off the glass, that'd be something i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

40-29 Spurs with 5 minutes left in the first half

DTL

Go Duncan! Go Parker!

good to see Terry Porter back.

Murphy3

the lakers have looked poor all post season long

they were fortunate to play a team that self destructed in the blazers.. and a team that self destructed in game 1 in the spurs

it had little to do with the lakers defense..more to do with just poor play by the other teams

DTL
05-07-2002, 10:32 PM
that was a brilliant move by Jackson, leaving Shaq in there with three fouls. and he picks up the fourth.

DTL
05-07-2002, 10:33 PM
16-pt lead by the Spurs at the half. Hope they won't slow down coming out of the break.

Drbio
05-07-2002, 10:34 PM
I would drive at Shaq a thousand times until he fouls out.

Go Spurs!

Drbio
05-07-2002, 10:42 PM
Duncan has a double-double at the half.

13 points and 10 rebounds.

It's a Dirk-esque (first series) performance.

DTL

Duncan is a man. I love watching him play. What do we have to do to not jinx this big lead they have right now? It's like playing NBA Live, you just never feel safe against the Lakers until it's over.

Now, take a trip into the alternate universe of my brain......

Just imagine he and Dirk on the same team. Unbelievable. I wonder if he realizes that if he was to sign with Dallas for the mid-level, he'd lose about $25-$30 mil in salary during the three years it would take before we could max him out. Is winning 10 straight championships worth $25 or $30 mil when you're already that rich?

It's a good thing for the league guys are greedy. Otherwise, they could all just do stuff like this, and stack the teams. Portland, Dallas, and New York could have all-star teams and mow down everyone else.

...back to reality. i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif

How about Mark "Big Daddy" Bryant? He's making a good showing.

Rhylan- the Hamilton girls golf team (4 time defending champs) lost today to Salado....a great run.

Those two on the same team is a great exercise in what could be.....

DTL

Playing against Shaq. What, you think the refs are going to foul him out in the 3rd quarter?

Drbio
05-07-2002, 11:38 PM
Stern would never let that happen.

Here come the Lakers...ugh...

I'm not even meaning to bash the refs that badly. As has been pointed out, basically Shaq either fouls or is fouled or both on every possession just because of how he plays and how everyone has to play him. But the refs certainly won't call the 6th so early in the game.

DTL
05-07-2002, 11:42 PM
oh come on! don't go cold now!

DTL
05-07-2002, 11:43 PM
actually 10 more fouls have been called on the Lakers

Drbio
05-07-2002, 11:45 PM
dwon to 7. You know the Lakers are going to make a late bull rush but if the Spurs are a championship level team, they will need to withstand it. I would rather beat the Lakers than the Spurs, but I hope the Spurs take the Lakers deep in the series.

MFFL
05-07-2002, 11:47 PM
If the Spurs can't hold on then this series will probably be over. Might even be another sweep.

DTL
05-07-2002, 11:47 PM
oh please. i don't want to have to hear about the "We're the champs" drivel coming out of the Lakers again....

Both the Western semi-finals go to 1-1.

And we no longer have to hear about how the Lakers are going for a complete sweep of the playoffs.

DTL
05-07-2002, 11:58 PM
phew....that was close.

Drbio
05-08-2002, 12:03 AM
Back to San Antone!

2-1 there probably.....either way. Isee it going 6-7 games now.

MFFL was right. Had teh Spurs blown this one, it might have been a sweep.

DTL
05-08-2002, 12:05 AM

Duncan with the odd triple double....

27 points
17 boards
10 turnovers?

Hoopsmeister
05-08-2002, 12:15 AM
I despise PJ.

MFFL
05-08-2002, 12:17 AM

And the team only had 16 turnovers.

Drbio
05-08-2002, 12:19 AM
I think it reflects on Duncans total effort....he was trying VERY hard to win this game.

DTL
05-08-2002, 12:29 AM
and is Robinson coming back at all?

Drbio
05-08-2002, 12:31 AM
I heard in the pregame he might be available for the San Antonio games. His back is very unstable. it's a shame really. Now if they beat LA I hope he gets some needed rest during the Mavs series....i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif

DTL
05-08-2002, 12:36 AM
i really hope i'm wrong, but i doubt SA can take LA if Robinson is not going to play. but we'll get a chance to take down the Lakers ourselves...(gee...this fan's identification with their team thing is getting a little eerie for me)

Drbio
05-08-2002, 12:41 AM
I like the Mavs chances of winning it all this year. I wasn't saying that earlier...as a matter of fact, i thought it would be next year before a serious run could be made, but this team is talented and if they play like they did in Game 3 vs Minny, they can get it done.

Bring on LA, SA...whoever...

Rhylan
05-08-2002, 12:50 AM
First, the NBA..... LA starting to look vulnerable. This game was just ill with lack-of-execution on both sides. LA and SA both have not played well yet in the playoffs. Tonight it was almost like they were having a contest to see who could lose.

<< Rhylan- the Hamilton girls golf team (4 time defending champs) lost today to Salado....a great run. >>

now, the local sports -- pretty cool, huh? Hamilton is a golf powerhouse, and I'd like to say that it was all started by my homeys in the Class of 1998. They set a 2A state record in '98. The 1998 2nd medalist is asleep in the next room (my roommate). The 1997 2nd medalist is another one of my friends whose wedding I have to be in, and all three of my boyz made all-state two years, maybe three years, I honestly can't remember. I just played baseball and tennis! i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif I suck at golf.

Murphy3
05-08-2002, 12:53 AM
my old school was kicking some ass in girls golf.. up big after one round.. the Baird Boys were third.

anyways.. on a side note
the lakers haven't looked good in any of the games this post season

Drbio
05-08-2002, 12:54 AM
a very impressive run indeed. They have NOTHING to be sad about. They interviewed those Hamilton girls and they did an outstanding job. I hope they rebound next year. Great testament to the town.

Great win for the Spurs, both the Lakers and Spurs will be hard as an opponent, but of course we'll make it against both of'em!
