Sounds like a Memphis Situation. I haven't watched granger that much but he looks like the real deal. Strike while the iron is hot, hot, hot...

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana Pacers co-owner Herb Simon passionately says he doesn't want to see the city without his franchise.

His wishes and the bottom line appear to be at odds.

Among the key issues for the struggling franchise is its operation of Conseco Fieldhouse. The building where the team plays its home games belongs to the Indianapolis Capital Improvement Board, and the Pacers have been paying its $15 million operating cost. Pat Early, the board's vice president, said the Pacers have made it clear that they no longer can pay that amount, in part because they could lose $30 million this season.

Well...I guess that's actually two words.

Without Danny Granger what's the point of having a franchise there? ;) IMO He is special. We would be in a long line of teams trying to pry him out if at all realistically possible.

First...this thread seems kind of misleading IMO.

I'm kinda torn on Granger...not on his talent, but on a tier level, where will he be. Granger can do a lot of good things and I think he goes largely unnoticed because he plays for a crap team right now. I've really been stuck on the classifications of elite/stud, star, and solid player. Dirk is clearly a stud and I'd say Jet and Kidd are at the high end of solid player or the low or bottom end of a star. And we clearly need to add at worst a star with Dirk. I don't know if Granger will be a stud, but he'll clearly be a star player.

He'll definitely be a lot better than Josh, that's for sure. Ah...to dream.

I believe Rick Carlisle had a lot to do with Indiana drafting Granger and also with his development.

Granger has five years left on a relatively low cost contract. If they are going to play basketball in Indiana, he is the most productive guy for his cost that they have and the last guy they'll move.

Now Dunleavy, Murphy, maybe even T.J. Ford are a different story--if you wanted any of them.

Josh Howard is not even close to Danny Granger.

Moving Granger won't make their situation any better. They'll draw even fewer fans.

On the actual subject of the article: It would be very sad for me to see the Pacers move or fold. I became a Reggie fan at a young age as my Mavs love was blossoming and always followed the Pacers a secondary team while he was there.

It would be really sad to see the NBA leave such a basketball intensive state. In a way that probably works against their attendance, because many of their fans are hardcore basketball fans who, when the NBA product is bad, will simply go watch basketball elsewhere.

Yeah, I agree jthig...Indiana is ALL about Basketball IMO. It just doesn't make sense for there to not be a pro basketball team there.

Basketball isn't leaving Indiana.

Getting Danny Granger is like me landing Megan Fox and Jessica Alba in one night.

Those aren't very good odds - maybe we should roll with MY chances of landing Megan Fox and Jessica Alba in one night?

Getting Granger is a 1 out of 30 chance which is the same for me landing those two. Which is a pretty high chance.

And why do you only reply when something funny is said.

So, both UD and Baller are airline pilots in real life?

They wouldn't be interested in our packages. Any of them save Dirk maybe but that's not cost cutting and we sure as hell would need a strong package to go with the kid.
