What is the worst conference in the history of pro sports (nfl, nhl, mlb, nba).
The two that come to mind the quickest are:
The AFC (NFL) from the early to mid 80's to the mid to late 90's.
The Eastern Conference (NBA): Currently an assortment of absolutely pathetic to decent basketball teams.
any other suggestions?

Yeah, but I was kinda thinking over at least a 3 year time span

Ya know, the AFC, in my mind, was never that bad. I think overall AFC v. NFC records bear that out. The problem was two-fold. First, the dominant team in the league was from the same conference for the better part of fifteen years: 49'ers; Giants; Redskins; Cowboys; Greenbay. Just clearly dominant teams. Second, for whatever reason, the AFC championship game frequently resulted in the lesser team winning. Undeserving San Diego got to the Superbowl in 1995. A couple of those Bills teams shouldn't have gone.
Regardless, the NFC always had the best coaches during that span for whatever reason.

Maybe the AFC wasn't that bad but to lose that many super bowls in a row has to rank the AFC during that stretch as one of the worst performing conferences ever.

The NFC West all those years the 49ers were the only team that was any good. The Saints, Falcons, etc all sucked terribly.
