View Full Version : Mavs and T-Wolves
Last game of the season..until the playoffs that is i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif When was the last time any of us got to say that?! The Mavs have played poorly the last couple outtings, so hopefully they'll turn it up before heading into the post-season. Mavs 107, Pups 99
04-17-2001, 08:44 PM
Wolves 105, Mavs 104
Rockets are spanking the Pups right now btw. 65-52 at the half.
if Utah looses tonight, then it will be a different game, for the small chance that we will get a playoff spot. If Utah wins I can see both teams not playing their starters for much, trying to get them rested up for the playoffs
Houston just embarrassed the hell out of them by winning 114-87! I have a feeling they're not going to just roll over and die for us tomorrow night.

I hate to tell you hales, but you will be crying in your beer tomorrow night when the mavs blow out the wolves
04-17-2001, 10:20 PM
It all hinges on how the jazz do tonight. If they win, they lock the 4th spot The Mavs will then probably rest all their starters and let Najara, Wang, and company show their wares.
04-17-2001, 10:24 PM
Close one Jazz Vs Clipps 84-83 to Utah with 2:34 in the 4th
Looks like the Jazz are going to win this one. Utah up 93-87 with 37secs left.
04-17-2001, 10:39 PM
I'm pretty sure that seals the deal: Jazz will have home court advantage.

Ugly Ugly game. Our scrubs VS there scrubs.
Finley, Nash, Dirk, Howard get plenty of rest.
04-18-2001, 12:04 AM
Sit the Big 3......lemme see plenty of Wang.....Plenty of Najera .......Plenty Eisley.....Hopefully the Mavs make the saturday triple header on NBC...
How about a rotation consisting of Wang, Harvey, Najera, Maxwell, and Eisley? heheh

1. I don't drink beer
2. Why would I cry?? I like the T-Wolves, but the Mavs are my team!! i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif
04-18-2001, 05:08 AM
Our reserves will spank Minnesota's. 95, 80.
04-18-2001, 05:09 AM
Does anyone know what Mavs playoffs games will be on ESPN??
Anyone going to the game tonight? I didn't get tix, but they're giving out copies of the 2000-2001 Mavs Yearbook and I really want one!

"let me see plenty of Wang" - Jordan23TX
04-18-2001, 12:23 PM
Animal Harvey is getting minutes tonight... He's going off for 18 boards...
04-18-2001, 02:47 PM
I sure hope Fin, Nash, Dirk and Howard all get no more than 10 minutes a piece. The last thing we need is to have those guys in there getting fatigued or getting hurt. If I were Nellie, I would put Bradley in the entire game to see how his stamina lasts. He's going to be HUGE for us, and we need him!
04-18-2001, 06:14 PM
KG isn't playing tonight...scrap my prediction...Mavs win this one (not that it matters to either club)
04-18-2001, 07:10 PM
Wang's gonna get mad minutes tonight. So are the other scrubs. But, oh well. Maybe it'll be fun.
04-18-2001, 07:52 PM
This is gonna get ugly quick! I hope they keep this intensity throughout the game and it carries over to Utah. They really needed something to get the fire lit!
Mavs are up 17 at the end of the first!! Once KG sees how pathetic his team really is, he'll decide to jump ship and come to the BigD i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif
04-18-2001, 08:11 PM
I'd welcome KG and AP with open arms!!! i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif
04-18-2001, 08:17 PM
Time to pull out the Wang
Mavs up 63-50 at the half. Anyone else feel like they're watching a practice scrimmage?!
04-18-2001, 08:44 PM
Why why why why why why!? is Nellie playing Nash? I love Nash, but his biggest problem is that he has been banged up over the course of the last year and he's not physically at the top of his game. Since this game doesn't matter, why isn't Nellie just sitting him to rest those hamstrings?
Good question i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif I hope Nash sits the second half. Eisley needs the extra pt anyway.
04-18-2001, 09:22 PM
I can understand why Dirk is out there, he's been in a shooting slump that Nellie would really like him to shoot his way out of before the playoffs start. But Nash has as many minutes as Finley--at least by these nba live stats, though they honestly look suspicious to me. And he's out there again x.x
Hales should be happy..Mark Bryant's on the floor i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

Moi?! I do believe I jumped for joy when the Mavs dumped Curley and signed Bryant!
04-18-2001, 09:45 PM

Wang is on fire 13 points!!!
Mavs whoop the Pups 120-100! i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif

great win for the mavericks. Everyone got to play and everyone scored. Wang looked good. And he was the chalupa hero for the second time. He going to be something special in a year or two.
04-18-2001, 10:15 PM
Big Mark scored!!! F Yeah!!
04-18-2001, 10:26 PM
That was fun... man, did Donnel Harvey and Eddie Najera look great tonight or what? Donnel's quick post moves were tearing apart Hammond, and man, the kid can get up in the air when he's contesting shots.... Najera showed some impressive ball-handling and his usual hustle and energy. He's pretty good at getting to the basket on the fastbreak... Eisley definitely looked more comfortable, Dirk's never looked more comfortable, Finley looked frickin' great...

didn't get a chance to see the game. Too busy beating the bejesus out of Sigma Nu in softball. From the sounds of things, it was great.

Utah gets swept. The Mavs are ready for these playoffs. The rest of the world is about to get shocked. Findog is going to pop some caps in Utah's *ss. Nobody is going to stop Dirk. And Bradley will provide the long predicted playoff heroics. Bloomington is not safe this Saturday. Most of my friends who sometimes poke fun at the Mavs know to stay away from me, the bottle of Jack, and the 3:00 Saturday game... They are wise men...

Was anyone more entertained by what Najera did last night? He is a better ball handler than I thought he was. And for someone his size, he plays well above the rim. The funniest play was when I believe Donnel missed a shot, Najera grabbed the rim with one hand and slam the ball with the other. I thought he would get a tech with that play, but it just shows me how quick his reflexes are and how good his leaping ability is. I was also entertained by Donnel "don't mess with me!! attitude". He is going to be an enforcer in the future. I don't know how he will ever crack the line-up unless he starts outplaying Howard in two to three years. Wang surprised me with his ability to score quick points and his ability to pass. His biggest and most glaring struggles were positioning. You could tell that Eisley was frustrated in trying to work the pick and roll with him several times. On the defensive end, he always seemed to be behind his player and had no ability to make a defensive play. His old habits are going to take time to correct, but when China gets Wang back, they will be getting a better player even in the short time that he was here. The other bad habit he has that I noticed was that as soon as Minnesota shot the ball, he was already running up court rather than going for a defensive rebound. That habit surely is related to China's playing philoshy.

Harvey and Najera are both going to have productive careers with the Mavs. Nelson just doesn't like to play rookies, and that is the biggest reason we haven't been able to see much of the pair this year. At the beginning of the season, I saw Dr. Jack Ramsey describe Najera as a taller young Dan Marjle type of player... I am sure we are going to get to see a lot more of his hustling, multidimensional play next year... And I am very excited about the incredible athletic potential of "Animal" Harvey...
04-19-2001, 12:39 PM
najera a majerle?...well if najera improves his shooting, then maybe....
04-19-2001, 02:19 PM
Majerle's shooting is better than Najera???
Majerle: fg% 0.434% (career), 0.336% (this season)
Najera: fg% 0.523% (career and season)
I'll take the up and coming Najera. He does need work on free throws (0.42% Yikes!!!)
