Just heard on local NY sportscast that Dirty Kurty got a little feisty with the Missus.

Don't think there was much chance of him joining the Mavs, but I hope this reduces the probability to precisely zero.

Thomas arrested on charges he assaulted his wife

Associated Press

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- New York Knicks forward Kurt Thomas was arrested on charges of assaulting his wife, and he did not accompany the team to training camp Monday.

Thomas was arrested at his home in Greenwich, Conn., for third-degree assault and risking injury to a minor. Bail was set at $1,000, police said. No other details were released.

The Knicks said ''the organization is going to be as helpful as possible to the Thomas family during this difficult time.'' The team didn't release any other information on Thomas' status.

The Knicks are coming off their worst season in 15 years and now face the prospect of beginning their season without at least one expected starter.

Thomas is New York's starting center.

Quick, quick, let's trade NVE for Thomas/Ward.... Come on, somebody else will get him.

The Mavs need someone to do the dirty work and assaulting the little woman is pretty dirty.

Uh Oh..not funny.

I am glad that this will end those dumbass trade rumors started by the NY media though.

Doc, it will only encourage them. Now they have all the more reason to ship these guys out of town. And naturally, anybody outside of NY would want their players.

Well maybe now the trades will look more like Kurt Thomas for TAW rather than Nick lol.

Rights to Roy Tarpley for Kurt Thomas. And not a penny more.

Half of the NBA breaks the law.

Kurt Thomas is exactly what we need down low. I still say go after him.

Thomas will raise hell this year inside the paint when the Knicks face WNBA teams.

That was a joke, but come to think of it, I'd like to see him play 7.2 Margo Dydek.

I think the Mavs had a great offseason, simply because of the deals the DIDN'T make. If the Zo trade went down we would be pulling our hair out because we gave away NVE and maybe Finley for nothing. If the Mavs traded for Thomas we would have a Jason Kidd situation on our hands without the Jaso Kidd talent and Spree will miss the beginning of the season. Maybe Cube is calling Ms. Cleo. The funniest thing is I was listening to the radio and Knick fans kept calling in saying they don't want NVE because of his attitude now they have this on the table and they are pretty much giving KT away.

Knicks' Thomas Is Ordered to Stay Away From Wife

STAMFORD, Conn., Oct. 1 Kurt Thomas, the Knicks' starting center, was arraigned on an assault charge today and ordered by a Connecticut Superior Court judge to stay away from his wife and their Greenwich home.

Thomas did not enter a plea on charges of third-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor. A hearing was scheduled for Oct. 24.

According to Thomas's wife, Amber, he came home unexpectedly Monday afternoon, asked about a missing laptop computer and became angry when she said she did not know where it was.

"He comes and goes," she said outside the courthouse, adding that she did not know where he had been in recent weeks.

She said she filed for divorce two weeks ago.

"It escalated from verbal abuse to physical contact," said Gary Cohen, Amber Thomas's lawyer. "Mrs. Thomas did suffer some physical injuries." He did not specify what the injuries were.

Amber Thomas said, "I had our child in my arms."

The couple have a 2-year old daughter, Isabella. Amber Thomas said her husband had acted as a father to her two other daughters from a previous marriage during their relationship over the past six years. Those two children were not home when the incident occurred, Cohen said.

Thomas declined to comment as he left the courthouse. His lawyer, Jim Wade, said that no one had been injured in the incident. Although the protection order allows Thomas to go to his home with a police escort, Wade said he would not be returning.

"He's out of the house and won't be going back," he said.

Thomas had his best season as a pro last year, averaging 13.9 points and 9.1 rebounds a game.

Amber Thomas said she felt no ill will toward her husband and was more interested in protecting her children from a spectacle.

"I don't want bad for him," she said. "I wish him the best."
