Man, I've seen Sloan lose his temper, but SHOVING a ref? Wow.

Did anyone see that?

Also, Webber was injured and limped off the court with the help of Keon Clark. Still waiting on his status.

Nah. What happened?

I'm watching this game. Sloan was very upset. He thought Doug Christie stepped out of bounds and the ref didn't call it. It took Stockton helping him to get him to leave. He kept yelling at the ref.

Webber sprained his ankle and is done for the night (and who knows what else).

Sorry, ran to eat dinner.

Sloan was pissed because he said Christie stepped out of bounds while driving to the basket. It resulted in a foul and a trip for Christie to the ft line.

Sloan went beserk, I mean, red in the face, arms going this way and that way. He went after the ref and players/coaches were trying to intervene, but Sloan shoved the ref in the chest/shoulder area. He even shoved one of his assistant coaches, who was trying to restrain him. He took his time leaving the court as well.

As for Webber, sprained left ankle. Still waiting on that, how much time he'll miss, etc...

Sloan looked like he was dying to throw down. Hope that I am a little more laid back then that when I am his age.

Who was the ref? I bet it was Javie. Tell me it was Javie.

How bad is the injury? Is this Fin's calling?

nope, don't know who it was.I don't blame him for pushing his assistant, any man who grabs another guy during a fight or even a tantrum deserves an ass beating if its not a blood relative.

Sloan pushes referee, draws ejection

January 28, 2003

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan pushed official Courtney Kirkland in the chest and was ejected in the first quarter of Tuesday night's game at Sacramento.

Sloan and Kirkland exchanged words face-to-face after Sloan argued that Kings guard Doug Christie stepped out of bounds on the sideline right near where Kirkland was standing. Sloan got down and put his hand to the spot where he thought Christie stepped out.

Sloan then shoved Kirkland and was immediately ejected. As Sloan was escorted away by arena security, he motioned for Kirkland to come toward him.

The ejection came during a timeout with 2:34 left in the first quarter, seconds after Christie drove to the basket and was fouled. He made both free throws.

LOL, never even thought about that.

To answer your question, I will say no. I think they'll send Brand to make up for Webber's absence before sending another guard. Of course, assuming Webber's ankle is serious enough that he sits.

I think for Fin to make it, and still assuming Webber is out and Brand is in, Shaq will have to decline the invitation. Then, I think they'd send Finley.

Shaq has sat out the last two?? I wouldn't be surprised if he sat out this one too, but then he might have something to prove since Yao was voted in ahead of him.

1st of all this sounds like a great payperview bout. 2nd my money's on Jerry. Artest has youth, stength, and craziness. But Jerry Sloan is one mean SOB. He's like the guy in the Monty Python's Holy Grail who gets his arms and legs cut off and is still trying to bite you.

Maybe if they consider Fin a forward but I still doubt it. Forwards are deep in the West, shooting guards are rare.

Or Kobe could sprain his booty hair and have to sit out. Surely they would put Fin in then.

This is beside the point but, did Christie step out of bounds?

hmmm... he definitely shoved him, but from the replays, it looked like he was yelling, and the ref went up to sloand and got in his face. so sloan pushed him.

identical to what happened the last time sloan pushed a ref.

now, i'm not condoning what sloan did. but like malone said, refs should be held accountable too. one of the first things a ref should do in these situations is create distance from the player or coach arguing, try to settle things down, not get in his face.

the refs in the nba are on a power trip. it seems as though they want to take complete control of the games.

this saying always holds true.

a game is officiated well if you don't even notice that the refs are there. and getting in a coach's face is definitely making the ref more noticeable.

BBL: I'm with you on the power trip by the refs. You're right that it doesn't excuse what Sloan did, but its still wrong for the ref to so blatantly let their personal emotions enter the fray.
