Joey Crawford is Da Man. (***where's that heavy sarcasm emoticon?***)

-------
ATLANTA (AP) -- Reggie Miller of the Indiana Pacers was ejected from Sunday's game against the Atlanta Hawks for complaining from the bench.

The Pacers were upset after Theo Ratliff wasn't called for a foul on a block against Indiana's Jermaine O'Neal with 4:37 left in the first quarter.

Miller, who started the game, was on the bench when the play occurred and drew a technical from referee Joey Crawford.

Miller wouldn't stop talking, and Crawford gave him another technical just seven seconds later, resulting in an automatic ejection. Coach Isiah Thomas waved his arms in disgust and also received a technical.

With 4:16 to go, Crawford gave Indiana another technical -- its fifth of the quarter. This time, it went to O'Neal.

Brad Miller also received a technical midway through the period. The Hawks went 15-of-17 from the foul line in the first, building a 29-20 lead.

refs on a short leash today.
-------
...
Adelman was tossed for the first time this season for protesting a non-call at the halftime buzzer -- though referee Steve Javie tossed Adelman after the coach appeared to stop arguing.

Adelman's odd ejection capped a series of baffling calls by the officiating crew of Javie, Tim Donaghy and Scott Wall. Donaghy also gave technical fouls to Divac and Bibby for arguing calls, while Sacramento was called for 28 fouls to San Antonio's 15.

just curious....

- what are the qualifications for being an NBA ref?
- how much are they paid?
- how are they evaluated as employees?
- do they get reprimanded?
- do they get performance reviews?
- are they accountable for anything they do on the court?

Javie is involved in practially every BS ref situation in this league.

Let me 1st say I absolutely hate the Pacers, but even so I hate the refs even more. There are too many legitimate things to call on the Pacers to have to resort to the BS calls in this article.

And DTL in answer to your questions:

- what are the qualifications for being an NBA ref? Ability to kiss David Stern's ass, visual impairment, short tempers with inability to take crticism, and large egos with a desire to be center of attenteion.

- how much are they paid? Too much. Most of it is not officially reported IMO.

- how are they evaluated as employees? As to how well David Stern's ass is kissed and his agenda is carried out.

- do they get reprimanded? Yes. When ever they fail to kiss David Stern's ass or carry out his agenda. Never for anything else. Accuracy of calls is never questioned.

- do they get performance reviews? Their noses are frequently checked to make sure they're the right shade of brown. That's about it.

- are they accountable for anything they do on the court? Other that the obligatory David Stern butt kiss, no they are not held accountable for anything.
