View Full Version : WTF ? Chalupas in Portland ?
02-17-2003, 11:52 PM
Was just watching Knicks/Blazers on League Pass and they mentioned that, in Portland, they're doing OUR Chalupa thing. Please, hand out dead fish or something.
LRB, you're responsible for starting the e-mail protests to David Stern...got to finish my carne guisada, first.

That's aweful OP. Those poor Orgonians will be running for the water fountains as they wipe away the tears. They can't handle spicy food.

Hope they don't want to trade Nájera too.

Najera will never leave. He is a Mav for life.
If Cuban even thinks of trading Eddie I'll hunt him down and kick his ass.
Portland should hand out bongs instead of Chalupas and really give their players something to play for. i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

I don't know if the league would be high on that idea
02-18-2003, 05:21 AM
that plan is bound to go up in smoke

The bongs are a bad idea. They are too big and heavy, major distribution issues.
I'd go for rolling papers. They're small and light. The Blazers could have a promotion with ZigZag. Hoish girls in tight t-shirts with the ZigZag logo could hand out the papers. The players could do TV ads. This will get fans high on the Blazers! i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif
Sweets I think your idea would get the Blazers ready to light some people up.i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

I wonder if Paul Allen has thought of all this? A Blazers pot promotion would double, if not triple, concession stand sales.

LoL SUD, I really hope that that this chulupa thing doesnt spread around the league. It should've only been used by the mavs but what the heck......
I know the Lakers were doing it a while back.
Maybe they could just hand out brownies. i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gifi/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

Now you're talking!
Yeah and Paul Allen could hire Cheech and Chong to do the promo commercials. i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif

Typical fan response after eating chalupas....
Portland: Oh man that is hot...what's in there? An onion?
Dallas: Anyone have any hot sauce?
LA: Chalupa? That is below me. I would not dare eat that. At least not in public. What is that hot sensation....an onion?
San Antonio: See Dallas..but they get even hotter hot sauce.

That's why they call them the "Blazers"

1.- Coudn't they just choose taquitos or burritos? (with no chili)
2.- Being the 14th offense, their fans aren't going to have problems with diets.

the grizzlies do the same thing.
when i went to their game against the bucks, they had 3 promotions:
1) score 100 points and get a free chalupa (they scored 97 or something)
2) hit 7 (or 8) 3 pointers and get a chicken meal from KFC (they hit 8 or 9... wesley person was on fire. and the chicken was good)
3) win and hold the opposing team to under 99 points and get anything from the wendy's 99 cent value menu (they accomplished this too)
