From Marc Stein, who has taken a break from his subtle Mav-bashing routine to realize the Kings may "own" us this regular season, but their record against other WC elite is worse than ours...

Kings can't rest on ruling Dallas alone

Wednesday, March 5

There was the Christmas Day conquest in L.A. against the Lakers. Followed by a nationally televised road snuffing of the then-rolling New Jersey Nets. After which the Sacramento Kings routed the Dallas Mavericks at home for the first of three victories against the team with the league's best record.

Those are the wins that made Sacramento this season's big-game kings.

Now for the losses.

Just like Dallas, Sacramento actually has some bad ones. Easily lost amid the hoopla of its hat-trick hold over the Mavericks is the Kings' very mortal 6-8 record against San Antonio, Portland, Minnesota, Utah and the Lakers. Worse yet, they're 2-5 at home against those teams, accounting for all five of Sacramento's Arco Arena losses. Against the same five teams, the oft-maligned Mavs are 6-5 overall.

Finally the Mavs are getting some public respect. Thanks for posting.

I wouldn't call it as Mavs getting respect... but at least the media is looking at the big picture and not just zeroing on Mavs.

Be very careful about judging 2 teams soley by their regular season series against one another. In the regular season, back to back games, fatigue, injuries, and many other factors may be disproportional from one team to another. Remember that last year the Bulls swept the Fakers, but no one seriously considered them a better team.

That's a cool stat. Maybe the reverse thing will happen this season the mavs won last years season series 3-1, and we lost in the playoffs. Maybe the reverse will be true this time, remember how Dirk was on the cover of SI before the kings series and how the mavericks were on the cover of Slam Magazine. Maybe the mavs were full of themselves especially being tied 1-1 going back to dallas, everyone thought the mavs would win. So maybe the kings will think they can just show up and win. Hopefully the reverse will happen this season.

Sac has its problems indeed, but if we face the Queens in the playoffs, we'll have the problems, not they.

It's so nice to know the Kings dominate us only out west. i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif

Sacto & Minne have gone into OT. Wolves up by 1 w/2:30 to go. Sigh, go Wolves.

Edit: It's over. 96-95 Kings. Now the Wolves know how we feel, I guess.

Yeah, that was a heartbreaker for the T-Wolves you know.

Losing in OT in an opponent's place is nothing to feel bad about... remember the Wolves did beat the Kings in Minny.
