Pat Croce's Brother Fired From Job
Filed at 5:18 p.m. ET

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The brother of Philadelphia 76ers president Pat Croce was fired from an insurance company for engaging in ``activities that violated his responsibilities and trust,'' the firm said Wednesday.

Vincent J. Croce, 44, an executive in Independence Blue Cross' building management department, was fired last week after an internal review, the company said.

``We immediately advised federal law enforcement authorities. ... We believe IBC will recover any losses incurred as a result of Mr. Croce's inappropriate activities,'' the company said.

Vincent Croce did not immediately return a phone message left at his home. His lawyer also did not return calls. The U.S. attorney's office and FBI declined comment.

His firing was first reported in Wednesday's Philadelphia Daily News.

Pat Croce, who is vacationing in Italy, ``was in a great deal of pain after learning of the allegations regarding his brother,'' Sixers senior vice president Dave Coskey said Wednesday.

``He's thought about it the entire time he's been away. It's a family matter and I'm sure they will as a family pull together,'' Coskey said.

Another Croce brother, John, was fired as a team trainer for the Sixers in January after allegedly being caught on videotape stealing money from a pair of Allen Iverson's pants that were left in the locker room.
