Maybe I missed the thread on this move ...
New Orleans is heading West when the make room for the new Charlotte franchise. A new alignment of Divisions (6 with 5 teams each) might be coming aswell - what do you think those Divisions will look like?
Dallas, Houston, SA, Memphis, New Orleans beeing stuck together soon maybe?

Yes, apparently the NBA's Board of Governors voted to this week to move New Orleans to the Western Conference to make room for Charlotte in 2004. New Orleans will have the option of moving over for the 2003-2004 season or simply waiting until 2004-2005 when Charlotte is added.

They will stay until they have to move.
If they're smart...

If they decide not to change to the 6 division format (which I think will be similar to the current NHL format), I think I heard they will simply tack NO to Midwest Division.
That would cripple the east even more. I wish they would do more to make the east at least more competetive like say minnesota to the west. That is where football has the nba with competetive balance.

That would be a tough division to win, I don't think New Orleans gets the credit they deserve being in the East. They are a good team, and I think they can be a playoff team in the West. One factor to their competing in the West will be their ability to retain P.J. Brown. With Brown and Magloire they have pretty good defense to match up with the West's big men. Not to mention Mashburn and Davis.
