View Full Version : Lakers vs Minnesota

At the end of the 1st quarter, Lakers up 39-23.

I knew it was a long shot that the Timberwolves would beat the Lakers, but I was hoping.

Still early, I know all that, but the Lakers look like they're on a mission.

Crap you just beat me to the punch i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif

But absolutely everything is dropping for the Lakers. If they can play like this the whole game there is no hope for this one for the Wolves.

Kobe has 24 points already. Still 5 minutes left in the 2nd quarter.

He also has 7 assists. Only 3 rebounds at last check, but it isn't far fetched that he'll end with a triple-double.

Unless they get a lead so big that Jackson benches him and Shaq.

Ok, I know Wally is a bad defender but Kobe is just ridiculous

Minnesota has it down to 14 at the half

MavsFanFinley

Kobe finishes with 28 points on 12-16 shooting. It doesn't matter who guards him, he's torching them. Hitting open shots, hitting them with a hand in his face.

The thing about it, is that he's not being a ball hog or anything, he still mangaged to dish 7 assists.

I still don't like him, I rag on him for being a ball hog, but he really put on a show in that first half.

Maybe this is why the Fakers didn't throw their last game to wind up facing the Mavs. Kobe never had anywhere close to this kind of success against us. The Mavs may not be a superstar defensive team, but the TPuppies are probably even less equiped to deal with the Lakeshow defensively.

What a pounding the Lakers gave the Wolves. Both Kobe and Shaq went off on them. This might be a four game series.

you praise him when he gets 7 assists, but rip him for having a season average of 6 assists. I don't get it? How is he a ballhog.

I feel sorry for the Wolves. They played their butts off this year, and this is the thanks they get: a first round exit at the hands of a team that basically coasted all year.

<< How is he a ballhog. >>

I praised him for his 7 assists cause at the time he only had 16 shot attempts. Hitting 12 of them. That's not very many shots for a half considering how on fire he was, yet he still found his teammates.

I looked at the box score and he ended up taking 14 more shots in the 2nd half but only managed 1 more assist. And to top it off, he only hit 4 of those 14 shot attempts.

I understand he and Shaq will carry most the offensive load, but I have a hard time understanding how he can take 30 shots in a game when sometimes Shaq doesn't even have 10-15.

They used the hot hand in the first which was kobe. In the second kobe took a few shots with the shot clock running down and his teammates dumping him the ball. The t-wolves have the ability to frustrate shaq and make him take shots from a far, he will try to get posistion if he doesn't have it he will then dish out for the shot. The offense always run through him, if he wants to take it he can take it. Sometimes he likes to go out set a screen for kobe. None the less kobe being aggressive wins games, the lakers won by 20 today i don't see a problem with kobe taking shots.

Just thank our lucky stars that Dallas didn't get the Lakers in the first round!!!!!! I'm not saying that Portland is going to be easy...we can still lose the series, however a sweep by the Lakers would have been painfull!!!

Dumb play by the Timberwolves.

Peeler should have thrown the ball to Hudson, but he completely ingnored him.

Ended up throwing it to Wally who stepped out of bounds as he caught the pass.

Kobe fouled on the other end.

Good grief, what a way to lose the game, if they do!!!!!!

MavsFanFinley
04-25-2003, 12:52 AM
Too funny, Kobe missed the first free throw. Hits the 2nd, now it's tied.

Awful shot by Hudson, should have been in Garnett's hands.

However, no timeouts and they were unable to set something up.

OT.

Blood is in the water. I guarantee you the Mavs, Kings and Spurs smell it. Even though the Lakers will probably still advance to the second round, they are going to have to play more games in the first round than they did in the last 2 years. This team is shallow, this team may legitimately wear down.

Were the refs on dope yesterday??? The Wolves should've won the game in regulation instead of OT.

Question: the AP recap mentioned a couple of questionable calls against the Wolves last night, one giving Kobe a 4-point play and one sending KG to the bench. I wouldn't think AP would mention them in less they were really egregious calls. Could someone let me know if they were that bad? Thanks, I missed the game (it came on at 11 on the east coast!)

Edit: Tripledipping may have just answered the question while I was posting. So it was pretty bad? Having the Lakers out in the 1st round could cost the NBA a lot of dough. Have you noticed that only the Laker games are on ABC? Go Wolves!

The Wolves truly earned last night's win.

TripleDipping

04-25-2003, 09:02 AM
Thanks guys. I try not to complain too much about the refs, but I get suspicious when AP starts talking about unfair calls. Fouling Garnett out in OT on a questionable call away from the basket it ridiculous.
