View Full Version : MLB All-star game
07-07-2001, 09:16 PM
I think that this is the best all-star game left. The pitchers still pitch hard and the batters don't hold any thing back either. But I really don't like the way that the voting takes place. Some one will always be left off, but the way Seattle and Japan stuffed the boxes for the M's is rediculous. My favorite part of the all-star weekend is the homerun derby any way...and I'm really looking forward to seeing the defending champion (Sammy Sosa) make it a repeat!
07-07-2001, 10:59 PM
Yeah, Seattle thing is really ridiculous !!!!! We've gotta do something about that...
anyway, Sammy ? How about Bonds and Gonzo ? I like Gonzo a lot ... Go Gonzo Go !!!!!!! Oh wait I wanna see Piazza, too ...

MLB All-Star game is and has always been, a Joke. The player most deserving to be there, rarely get the chance. It doesn't matter what kinda stats you put up, all that matters is the name on the jersey.
Anyway, I see A-Rod winning the Homerun Derby. The American league winning the All-Star game, and Ichiro being the MVP.
07-07-2001, 11:10 PM
Last year Sammy crushed everyone, but the year before he only it one homer in the derby. It was a sad day...but that will all be forgotten after he repeats as champ!
07-07-2001, 11:12 PM
Crap...that's not the picture I wanted!
07-07-2001, 11:14 PM
A-Rod isn't participating in the derby.
07-07-2001, 11:16 PM
Yes he is. Didn't you see the news tonight? Bud Selig has asked him to participate and A-Rod said he would grant him that wish and do so.
07-07-2001, 11:19 PM
Here's a better picture...
07-07-2001, 11:21 PM
Oh...thanks for the update Rob. I'm glad he change his mind, but I'm gonna feel sorry for him after he starts to cry cause Sosa beat him so bad.
07-07-2001, 11:24 PM
Your gonna start to cry when I tell you your pictures don't show up.
07-07-2001, 11:25 PM
07-07-2001, 11:31 PM
Man! I have the most trouble with these dang pictures! They show up on my computer fine.
07-07-2001, 11:34 PM
I think it's just the sites your getting them from.
07-07-2001, 11:38 PM
I guess I'll just quit posting pictures. Or little boxes w/ red X's.
I like those little red x's.

ROB W R, Ichiro may have the chance,
but don't you miss Nomar Garciapara ? He is just great ...
07-08-2001, 01:00 AM
Yeah...but I think he's been out way too long to have a shot at the MVP. Rob...were you talking about the All-Star game MVP or the AL MVP?

Anyone knows who Chan Ho Park is ?
He is a Dodgers pitcher and he's Korean.
and he will appear in this year's all-star game.
He's had 15 consecutive quality pitching (quality start) so far this year.
The Major League record which is held by Greg Maddoux is 16.
He may break the record, Big Unit's career high is 14 or 15,
and Pedro also 14 or 15 ...
07-08-2001, 01:19 AM
Yeah...I know Chan Ho Park. Didn't Bobby Valentine call him a fat toad?
07-08-2001, 01:20 AM
Is Hideo Nomo from around there? He's been pitching pretty well this season.
Nomo's Japanese. Gawd Flying Tiger..we ALL don't look alike ya know! i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif
07-08-2001, 01:23 AM
Well crap...I thougt that they were selling Nomo and Park as the over seas brothers or something like that.
Heh I was just playin bro..I have no idea how Asian players are marketed overseas so you might be right. Will wait and see what NotEnuff has to say I guess.
07-08-2001, 01:27 AM
I guess...he seems to be pretty up on cultural affairs.
07-08-2001, 01:29 AM
...but then again, I might be making that over seas crap up in my head. I've been known to do that to myself from time to time.
07-08-2001, 01:46 AM
A Fat Toad ?
I guess you don't know anything about Park, he's not fat. NOOOOO WAYYYYY
You probably mistook him for someone else - Hideke Irabu or Yoshi.
and Vanlentine personally thinks highly of Park and he like Yoshi ...
You know overseas players' life long dream is being a Major leaguer ...
If you wanna play overseas, you gotta finish the contract first,
and then some of them may be sold by their owner but some like Park choose his career of his own will, he's not sold by anybody ...
but Never say Park is a fat toad in front of him, he's a quite good side-kicker ...
I once saw him side-kicked an Angel's pitcher !!!!!
07-08-2001, 01:48 AM
Irabu! That's it...thanks.
07-08-2001, 01:49 AM
Speaking of kicking...it might of been in preseason, but did anyone see when Julian Tavarez jump-kicked that guy that charged the mound? It was so funny.
07-08-2001, 05:14 AM
Anyway fat-toad Irabu wasn't that fat when he was in Japan,
don't you know he's real father is American ?
maybe he's the father of one of you guys, no one knows, it's a family secret ...
I know Bobby V once was a coach in Japan, so he must know about the culture there.
In some Asian countries, sometimes a fat toad means something good such as
a healthy adorable newborn baby or something like that ...
07-08-2001, 03:53 PM
I don't think he was saying it as a compliment.
07-09-2001, 09:18 AM
I know ... i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif I'm not that stupid ...
anyway A-Rod is Mexican ?
07-09-2001, 04:39 PM
I don't think so. I don't know where he is originally from, but he went to high school in Florida.
07-10-2001, 07:22 AM
You're right, he was born in NY, I just thought I heard someone said he's Mexican ...
07-10-2001, 07:29 AM
I told ya, Gonzo, think he will wear a triple crown this year ...
.355 Batting Average, 86 RBI, 35 HR (Hasn't he got the title yet ? i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif) ...
Way to go, Gonzo ... A Hat Trick !!!
07-10-2001, 10:41 AM
That was a rather boring Home Run derby if you ask me. Chris "Gotta say the stupid nickname of every player when I talk about them" Bermen is a big turn off for me. Can't stand listening to that guy.
Anyway, Anyone else as suprised as I was at the standing O given to A-Rod?
07-10-2001, 10:47 PM
*YAWN* 4-1 AL wins the all star game.
07-11-2001, 10:36 PM
HAHA...that's what Valentine get for making Al Lieber the only Cub pitcher in the staff. I think Leiber gave up those back to back homers in protest.
07-11-2001, 10:37 PM
Yeah...the Derby was a little lacking. Sammy's pitchers were throwing junk!
07-11-2001, 11:25 PM
When LaRussa(spelling?) got knocked over by that bat it was priceless. Everyone got a good laugh, expecailly when Bonds tried to put that chest-protector on him.
07-11-2001, 11:28 PM
Giambi did the same thing in the Derby that McGwire did 2 years ago. He put on a great show in the first round, breaking McGwire's record of homeruns in a round with 14, but got knocked out by my main man Slammin' Sammy in the 2nd.
07-11-2001, 11:29 PM
Yeah, that was one of the few(very few) bright spots. A-Rod letting Cal play short and then Cal hitting a homer. Then when they honored Tony and Cal. But other then that it was a rather bland All-Star game as always.
07-11-2001, 11:31 PM
Yeah...if it hadn't been for Cal and Tony it really would have sucked. I hate to see them go...but I think they both hung on a little too long.
07-11-2001, 11:31 PM
Oh yeah...Cal's homer was great.
07-12-2001, 10:53 AM
i loved seeing sammy lose in the homerun contest.
definitely great to see.
well, it's going to be even better to see his ass not making the playoffs this year
screw the cubs
07-13-2001, 11:30 AM
Murphy, Murphy, Murphy...You're going to be sadly dissapointed.
07-13-2001, 12:12 PM
haha...maybe so flying tiger..
for your sake, hopefully i will be wrong.
07-13-2001, 12:13 PM
Oh you are...you are.
