Eddie will take charge tonight. He will defeat the Spurs with his own two hands. He will kill one of them dead. Rose was lucky, but not tonight. Tonight, Eddie draws blood! The body count will rise at the hands of the greatest basketball player to ever walk the face of the earth.

And, when the Mavs win the championship, Eddie will save me from all conspiracies, real and imaginary.

Thank you..thank you.
I'd like to thank all of the little people that helped me to get to where I am. Many of you have posted so many posts that are so outlandish and reprehensible in your support of Najera that you have made it virtually impossible to be a supporter of the man. Without your over the top posts and fanciful dreams of grandeur and Najera greatness, none of this would have been possible.

Just remember the thread that stated that "Najera is the team's MVP".
Statements like this make it all possible. Usually, I would find it difficult to beat a player down unless they are named Juwan Howard or Allen Iverson. But, thanks to some of you, anything is possible.

I suppose that depends upon the situation. However, in this vacuum we call a message board, I hardly think that the "meanness" will ever actually hurt Eddie's feelings.

And do you think that Eddie doesn't have a realistic opinion of himself? Just because his most ardent fans don't, that doesn't mean that Eddie doesn't realize his own shortcomings. In fact, I think Eddie would probably agree.

Have to disagree with you Murph. Playoffs matter most and Najera was pretty good in limited minutes. Avg more offensive rebounds than Bradley or Raef and lord knows second
chance points are huge for the mavs plus he gets more steals than those 2 also all in less
minutes than Raef gets and he's 3 to 10 inches shorter! and Fake Hustle? that's ridiculous
it's just Hustle. Defensively, i agree that he is out of position a lot but not near as much as
Bradley or Raef were see personal fouls to support that. He averages just as many points per minute as Raef and twice as many as Bradley.

He's no all star but he's a hell of a 6 or 7th player.

I agree. I'm trying to comprehend what the hell you're talking about.

In English, the phrase "in your back" really isn't used unless you're talking about the knife "in your back".

I suppose you'll have to rephrase if you want me to understand.

KG, use some neurons. Najera is the bag, you have to carry it (him) for another year. You have to deal with the fact that your loved Eddie is going to be playing for the Mavs for another season, despite your wishes. I mean, you will suffer another year of Najera, and of Chiwas of course. We don't use the phrase in our language either; it's a metaphor; some people are capable to make metaphors, and some to understand them; we aren't copy-paste (like you) guys, you get it?

Man, can't be that hard to understand!

KG, use some neurons. Najera is the bag, you have to carry it (him) for another year.

Do me a favor and don't imply that I'm stupid when you're the one talking in broken English.

The phrase you were looking for is "on your back". And no, Najera won't be "on my back" for another year. He'll be on the end of the bench.

You have to deal with the fact that your loved Eddie is going to be playing for the Mavs for another season, despite your wishes. I mean, you will suffer another year of Najera, and of Chiwas of course.

I don't know why you can't get this. I've said it in English many times, so I'll try it in Spanish.

Me gusta a Eddie Najera.

For you English readers out there, that's, "I like Eddie Najera".

You assume that I don't like Eddie because I'm honest about him. Wrong.

As for suffering another year of you, I'm not in the Lounge all that often.

We don't use the phrase in our language either; it's a metaphor; some people are capable to make metaphors, and some to understand them; we aren't copy-paste (like you) guys, you get it?

Man, can't be that hard to understand!

It's not a metaphor. It's an incorrect use of the English language.

I'm the one that doesn't like Najera... the only reasons that I don't like him are:
1. because of you, Chiwas
2. because of southern sweets
3. because he's horribly overrated by the general public. at least those that know little about basketball
4. because he contributes so little in areas of great need..such as defensive rebounding.

1 and 2) well, at least you are honest.
3) either you mean "by Chiwas and Sweets" or you have no idea what they are rating him on.
4) defensive rebounding, defensive rebounding. The game is basketball, not defensive rebounding.

Sheesh, another entire discussion about our 11th man.

Najera is very limited offensively, generally a poor man-to-man defender, and not a good team defender because he's out of position all the time. Sure, there is more to it than defensive rebounding.

Chiwas
09-10-2003, 01:44 PM
The best of all is that his main detractors, Murph and KG, overrate Najera posting that much about him. I can't believe the "good posters" grant more time to the "11th" player than to the better players.

Man, I love this. i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

discussing the 11th man either means a bunch of us have way too much time on our hands

Najera plays the well in the middle of the box, keeps a good FG%, sets a good pick, rebounds adequately, always plays at %120, inspires the team and the crowd, and helps sell shirts.

I can't wait for the season to start. All the crow that will eaten around here when Eddie comes back stronger than ever.

I took a look at the stats. You might want to consider another stat...the performance of the team when Najera is on the floor. Email Mark Cuban, he keeps track of this.

I can't give much credit to these numbers. If we base our opinions of players on them, Ben Wallace is the best player in the NBA. Accordingly, if you live by these numbers, the Mavs should trade Dirk for Ben Wallace, SA should trade Duncan for Wallace, LA should trade Shaq for Olowonkandi and so on.

Sorry, not buying it. Take a look at the big picture once in a while.

Eddie is going to look a heckuva lot better next year when he is healthy, and when he isn't forced into playing major minutes as our #2 power forward in rotation...

He is a hustling, energy player who can make a real impact when playing in a high-intensity, limited role in the game, and conversely, he didn't look so good when he played major, energy-depleting minutes against bigger, stronger opponents last year. In that same last season, I really don't believe we wouldn't have reached 60 wins without Najera's contributions (remember game II vs the Rockets), and I would not be at all surprised if his energetic, attacking game ends up being a decisive factor in winning 2-4 additional games for us next year...

Of course, he and The Fort are probably going to be involved in a dogfight for the same rotation minutes in our upcoming NBA campaign, but I think that such a hopefully competitive situation will probably bring out the best production in both players...

hopefully eddie will look good. but in order for him to do that, the mavs must use him correctly.

he can't play PF at the NBA level, so hopefully he logs little time there.

if he's strictly an energy guy at the SF spot. if so, that'll be great. the mavs can use his ability to grab o'boards and get into the passing lanes.

but, i don't think the injury is a valid excuse. he looked about the same last year as he did the year before

I didn't know that Najera was injured.

I read this article translated from Spanish:

Injured! + Nájera hurt shoulder + will be evaluated daily SCYTHES, Texas. Mexican eaves underwent a twist in the right shoulder, during a play in the second period. Its state will be analyzed every day to determine when it returns to you hurt them. Another eaves of the Mavericks, Antawn Jamison, remained in the bench, after undergoing cramps in the back. Jamison, acquired in August to Golden State, also will be examined daily. Najera and Virito went to the movies at Denver.

http://www.eldiariodechihuahua.com/edicion/articulo/deportes/notas/notappal.jpg

Not a big deal, only that Najera said that he wants Virito to be the next Mexican in the NBA and is trying to help him. Virito just started college in Fresno State.

What happened to Najera?

I'm a new fan of mavs 2 years now.

I remember 5 or 6 years ago i went to a basketball game of the university we were going against oklahoma, and i remember that a friend told me that oklahoma best weapon was a mexican Najera i didn't know anything about the guy but i remember the game he ended with more than 25 points 15 rebounds something like that.

So i watched Najera probably 6 or 7 more times with oklahoma and he was impressive, so what happened?

I know that Nellie doesn't like to start rookies and i know mavs has a lot of SF which was the position that Najera played and he was really good he used to drive really fast from outside to the interior for dunks or lay ups and he had a very good field goal shooting.

So what went wrong? no enough minutes, wrong position(nellie uses Najera like a PF or C), better players in his position or he's not nba material.

I think first he's not a PF or C to small for that but still he gets a lot of offensive rebounds but you have dirk like your main SF which it's the best SF of the nba and nellie uses MF like a SF which i don't understand it either.

Second dallas has too many SF better than Najera and Najera needs to work in his shooting.

Ideas? , Comments?

Najera probably will be gone soon to other team. Portland, Utah, I don't know. But he had meant it some weeks ago indirectly in a interview for a Chihuahua's newspaper.

If he plays for other team, I'll try to watch his games: I'm a fan of him cause he made me have interest on the NBA again. Also because he has made that our basketball in Mexico starts to get rid of the people that have hurt it badly during more than 25 years. Also cause he is from my Country and my State and the only Mexican playing in the best basketball league of the planet.

However, I don't like to follow teams without chances to get titles, that's why I won't be a fan of the new team of Eddie, if it isn't a contender.

I hate the Lakers, I don't like the Kings, the East probably won't have a champion in the next 5 or more years, and one of my brothers already is a fan of SA.

Then the only team left, with posibilities to be champion is the Dallas Mavericks. By coincidence, my team now. I have been fan of the Cowboys and the Yankees for decades. When both teams are having bad consecutive seasons, I lose the interest in that sport and never have changed of team; I retake when both get strong again (thanks, Parcells!). Never had been fan of a NBA team, but I feel I'm stuck with the Mavs already.

GO EDUARDO!, wherever you play, GO MAVS FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP!

I mentioned this on another board, but this is the Eddie I remember before the injury. I don't notice him favoring his leg and his lift seems to have returned.

It's a welcome site.

Great job again by Najera. It's a pleasure to see him hustling and healthy, and making the same kind of strong game impact that he made early last season...

VIVA Najera!

The win against Sacto is proof of Najera's greatness..4 possessions without a shoe. Najera doesn't even need shoes.

Eddie is the greatest!!

He looked awesome!
