Good to see WCS is back with the team. Really like to see him get some consistent minutes.

KP is out. Markanen out for Chicago.

Eric Woodyard: Otto Porter will return tonight for the Bulls.
Eric Woodyard: Zach LaVine is doubtful with a left quad strain. Wendell Carter Jr. will also play and start vs. Dallas.

Curry questionable. Hope it isn't that knee he seemed to be nursing after that 4 point play...

Update: Curry OUT. Lower back tightness.

If WCS is really available, then tonight is the perfect night to get him some minutes. He should get at least 20 minutes if his conditioning is okay imo.

Luka, THJ, DFS, Maxi, WCS - starting 5. Me likey.

Agree. They will still need some scoring punch off the bench, but aside from Barea, I'm not sure who they can count on. I don't think Jackson will get a lot of burn, but this would be the perfect game for him to play extended minutes. MKG? Not likely. Call me crazy, but I would love to have me some Ryan Broekhoff available to fill the Curry 3-pt threat role tonight.

Edit: That reminds me, Lee. Who knows? He's a vet, so he should be able to step in and help. If he could get 6-8 that would be a nice little boost.

Lee had a double digit point game in Nov and one in early Feb. Maybe he'll get another

Rebounding was much better with boban on the floor

And I'm not that excited about MKG. He looks pedestrian at best and his defense might be a little overrated.

But it could be that in Charlotte he defended more wings around his size. In Dallas he's been defending more big players which Is not his strength

Wow

We actually have a conventional lineup on the floor with true center Boban and true PF Kleber.

Boban is looking really solid scoring inside easily and grabbing boards

Agree. I think he'd look a lot better if he were a wing defender in a traditional set, but I think Dallas would take too big of a hit offensively for that to be palatable. Situational, end of game, single possession type thing imo.

Yep, too bad I have a feeling WCS will get a DNP to be "punished" for his time off for personal reasons tbh

Boban is great at scoring and grabbing boards, too bad he's still at half court when the other team is attacking our paint... It's hard to play defense when you're on the wrong side of the floor. Dude is sooooo slow.

I wish RC would play WCS with Kleber on the floor, but hey, he did play Boban and Kleber together a bit, so I better not get greedy. LOL

Courtney Lee is quietly having a nice game. Why did he sit on the bench for the first half of the season again?

this. i really dont know why this is so hard to understand. he is so slow that he often ruins the defensive schemes/rotations

Boban isnt a rotation player, he is a "break glass in case of emergency" player.

Yeah it would be too smart to play WCS over MKG

Still waiting to see him line up next to kleber off the bench down the road

Kleber could the stretch 4 with WCS at center off our bench but knowing RC he'll force feed the Kleber/MKG tandem at the backup 5 and 4 spots

Forgetting how to shoot is why he got all those DNPs. The mediocrity came first.

Kleber could the stretch 4 with WCS at center off our bench but knowing RC he'll force feed the Kleber/MKG tandem at the backup 5 and 4 spots
MKG is a more versatile defender. I want to see WCS too, but I can see why MKG got in first.

The answer to your objection is pace. The Mavs need to adjust to play at a slower pace. Less running and gunning. The way a team plays has to be adjusted based upon the personnel on the floor. Look at JJB. He's a tiny, but he's still gotten plenty of burn over his career, and I'd argue he's more of a liability due to his size than Boban is due to his foot speed.

Boban is super-productive, so if he wants to walk down the floor, stand flat-footed and drop the ball in the hoop like he's taking out the trash while everybody stands around and watches, then I think a coach could make an effort to make use of a clearly superior advantage he has in size. He's a smart player, has good hands, and he doesn't move nearly as slow as some people think. He moves just fast enough to get the job done. I don't see him wasting a lot of energy. He's very judicious in the energy department imo, and I think people think he's slower than he is because he's very efficient with his movement.

Edit: If footspeed is really a determining factor for why a big can't get on the floor, then WCS should be starting every game. The man's a gazelle moving down the court. He can really move, especially for his size.

Not with KP out I dont think. Even Boban got PT ahead of him.

Regardless of that though it's just dumb, the guy has clearly proven he deserves a chance tbh. Carlisle things I guess...
