I'm telling you, slow footed big men are a thing of the past. Kevin Love, KAT, Valanciunas, Nurkic all, in my eyes, looked like they were running in molasses in the playoffs. Not being able to switch defensively because of lack of mobility absolutely kills your team on defense in today's league.

We've all been discussing whether the defensive center is a thing of that past, but that isn't the really the issue. What matters is whether the big man can move their feet quickly on switches.

And I take that into big consideration with the draft for sure. Hence why I'm not as high on WCJ anymore.

And this is precisely why I am a fan of JJJ.

Long as he gets back on defense. No way he can stretch-armstrong blocks from half court.

Hes fast enough to get back on defense.

Hes been working on his shooting this summer too.

Potential there for sure, but he had more than 8-10 Harden moments for Texas last year where he just didn't even go past halfcourt despite running like a gazelle.

He's definitely a guy that's known as someone that doesn't bust their tail. That worries me.

I don't know man.....I'd take a slow footed player the caliber of KAT.

If he had a quick defensive forward to cover up for his lack of defense, then yes it could work out.

But man, the playoffs were so painful with regards to his speed. Either he was out of shape or that's just how fast he really is.

KAT doesn't seem like he takes very good care of his body. Puffy. That can definitely change though. We'll see how he responds to the criticism and poor performance this summer

I just wrote it off as his first post season appearance. If he looks like that again this year.....there might be a problem. But I just think he needs to spend a offseason with Olajuwon.

Didn't Fultz do the same thing last year with copy and pasting a tweet?

To be fair, Philadelphia 76ers considered changing their name to the City Team Names

An NBA source tells DallasBasketball.com that depending on Smart’s asking price, the Mavs can be expected to explore pursuing the 6-4 guard, a defense-first battler who scores 10 points per game for a Celtics team that made it to the Eastern Conference Finals. – via 247Sports

Mavs “can be expected to explore pursuing” 100+ players. Seriously, Fish is the worst sports “journalist” I’ve ever seen. Do some real work man.

I love Smart...but I don't love what he will command. He's going to get star like money....some rteam is going to crippple their cap space for him....and I just can't do that for a typical 3 and D guy....and yes he does offer more than your typical 3 and D guy....but he does nothing special on the offensive end.

The key is how much money he's going to be asking. The guy is very valuable for a lot of intangibles but from what he's said, he will be over-valuing himself.

tweet from Tim MacMahon
Rick Carlisle on Mavs’ need for a big man: “July 1 is right around the corner, bro. We’ll address it. There will be options.” Yes, he said “bro.”

Skin thinks DAJ is opting in and that Mavs try and trade for him as well. Just get anyone that sucks in rebounds and blocks shots.

If we’re talking rentals, why bother with DeAndra when Dwight is sitting there for pennies on the dollar?

Go get Clint Capela!!! Force the Rockets hands while they pursue LeBron. No point in picking up some headcase for a one year rental (or Cousins, IMO). That would give us a solid young core of:

DSJ - 20
Luka - 19
Capela - 23
Barnes - 26
Brunson - 21

I'm not sure Smart is a 3 & D type since he shoots under 30% from deep for his career, just barely cracking that last year.

We need a center first and foremost and then a wing player. But if we don't get a center that sucks in rebounds next season, then it'll be another losing season I promise that.
