I just got home from work, and I almost didn't believe the news when I heard we signed Curry from a vendor at work.

Later on in the day I then read that we also will be keeping Kleber and Barea. Not surprised at the least bit.

I'm curious how many we have now for our 15 man roster.

Is this it?

J.J. Barea
Jalen Brunson
Seth Curry
Courtney Lee
Tim Hardaway Jr.
Ryan Broekhoff
Luka Dončić
Justin Jackson
Dorian Finney-Smith
Maxi Kleber
Dwight Powell
Kristaps Porziņģis

Do you all think we'll sign Salah Mejri? Trey Burke? I think we should keep Salah if we can.

Hes a good guy and has become a passable back up center but his constant Duncan like complaining to the refs became hard to watch. Im Sure he's working on his 3 ball as we speak tho. He wouldnt cost much so either way wont bother me.

Powell/???/???
KP/Kleber/Jackson
Doncic/DFS/Broekhoff/Lee
Curry/THJ/???
Brunson/Barea/???
========
Atetokounmpo
Macon
========

12/15 regular season slots filled
2/2 two-way contracts filled

Guys not on roster from last season (UFA): Harris, Mejri, Burke, Dirk

Kleber can play some center and KP will as well. We're still very thin at PF/C, particularly if we're limiting KP's minutes. I wouldn't mind another guard either. Someone either proven like Green or someone up-and-coming like Wright. Maybe bump one of our two-way guys up to a regular deal and give Roby the other two-way.

Worst case: Mejri (for that backup 4/5) and Harris (for that backup SG)
Best case: we have 22 mill and could get either one guy with that or split it between a guard and a PF/C tweener.

Bumping Antetokounmpo would be an easy move. We are short on bigs and we need to see what he can do with more talent around him. Then give Roby the remaining 2 way

Assuming that Roby will get a roster spot (which isn't guaranteed) and Lee eventually traded / waived / stretched, we're sitting at 13/15 roster spots.

Biggest remaining needs: PG, SG

I like Salah as a "break glass in case of emergency" center. He will throw his body around and make something happen

Its just a guess as to whether it will be a positive or not. He's a wild card

Macon and Atetokounmpo have two-ways technically

Reaves technically doesn’t have a two-way yet. He got a summer league contract that can be extended into a training camp invite

Otherwise that’s correct

How do the Two-Way deals work? Are they year-to-year, multi-year, can they be terminated?

Here is a decent breakdown of two-way contracts (taken from https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2017/7/...ied-about-them)
  • They will act as a 16th and 17th roster spot for NBA teams beginning next season (2017-18).
  • The player can spend up to 45 days with the NBA team that signs him, although no time is guaranteed.
  • The rest of the player’s contract must be spent in the G-League, either for the team’s affiliate or another’s if the team he signs with doesn’t have a G-League affiliate yet. For the 2017-18 season, the G-League will represent 26 of the NBA’s 30 teams.
  • The player’s pay comes on a tiered salary system, which can last one or two seasons. While in the G-League, the player will make $75,000. It’s a significant increase from the current pay structure for G-Leaguers, who cannot make more than $26,000 with a one-way G-League deal.
  • When in the NBA, a player with a two-way contract will accrue a day of service and make money consistent with an NBA rookie minimum, which is about $816,000 next season. If a player spends 45 days in the NBA, he could make around $204,000.
  • In total, a two-way player who spends the maximum amount of time in the NBA would make $279,000.

But it's a bit more complicated, the deals can be waived, can be converted to regular deals, etc. They also don't count against the cap.

Shams Charania

Sources: The Dallas Mavericks have waived forward Kostas Antetokounmpo, who’s on a two-way NBA deal.
