In the second quarter, the Rockets got it together and shot 59.1 % with only one turnover. And got outscored 33-31.

Lots of Rockets fans saying they'd take Luka over Harden. I'm kind of stunned.

Probably a kneejerk reaction to a loss but I wouldn't be surprised anyway.

Luka is younger, bigger, better rebounder, better defender, better ball handler, better passer, shows more emotion and passion, and imo a better teammate and a hell of a lot more fun to watch.

Well, Luka is 20... The only player that I might take over him would be Giannis.... edit...ahh.. probably should have read the thread at CC first.

I should clarify- the question in that thread isn't Luka vs Harden now. It's "if you were to start a franchise now, would you rather have 20 year old luka doncic or 20 year old james harden?"

I was kinda surprised to a bunch of rockets fans say Luka- the tune of 66% in the poll.

I remember clamoring to get Harden from the Thunder when he was on he block. Of course, we didn't have the trade assets, but he was a guy you knew was going to break out.

Then the flopping began...

For what its worth, Donnie was asked on local sports radio who he thought would be the best player in the draft that Harden was in and the player hed take first and he said Harden. That was a week or so before that draft.

I may be misremembering this, but wasnt there some talk of us moving Josh Howard to move up to #5 in that draft? I think Washington or Minny eventually traded the pick for Mike Miller and Randy Foye?

Reading through threads at clutchfans actually makes me kinda sad and almost makes me feel sorry for them. Most of them are not blind homers and they know how flawed their team is, and that they probably can't win a title as currently constructed. It reminds me of how I felt as Mavs in the 2008-2010 period, after the crushing losses against Miami and GSW, and before the miraculous title win 2011.

Championship windows close, and one of the most painful, frustrating places you can be as a fan is when your team is probably good enough to win a title and comes very close- but doesn't win, and then the few years after that where the team is still very good, but not quite as good. It's a weird sort of purgatory. The team is good enough and the title push is recent enough to give you the glimmer of false hope that you can still win, but your rationality tells you that they your team missed its chance and probably isn't getting another one anytime soon. Your team is winning 50+ games every year, but it's depressing and frustrating because there's no future. It's all downhill.

I'd MUCH rather be where the Mavs are now, even if we are probably further away from a title at the present moment. This team is WAY more exciting and more fun to root for than the 2008-2010 Mavs, even if those teams were probably better and won more games.

Well a certain monotony happened after the travesty that was 2006, and it's pretty normal when you're good for a long time without winning it all.

I will say though that those years before 2011 made that championship that much sweeter, so it's hard to say what is really more fun to root for. Prime Dirk was always enjoyable no matter what season it was.

Prime Dirk was wonderful, but for me at least, it made it more frustrating, because I felt like we had wasted prime Dirk. And I think that's how the Rockets fanbase is feeling now, at least the ones smart enough to know that their title window is probably closed. Harden is putting together a run of the most statistically dominant seasons in NBA history. Love him or hate him, what he has done over the past decade and is still doing now is absolutely remarkable. And yet, read through those threads, and you can tell that fanbase is not happy. A lot of them feel like Harden deserves better than to have to be superhuman every night in order to carry a subpar team to the playoffs, and they're angry at their owner and GM for failing Harden. Again, like the 2008-2010 Mavs, and honestly the 2011 Mavs all the way up until we somewhat shockingly swept the Lakers in round 2.

One thing that being a fan of the 90's Mavs and the 80's Texas Rangers and Atlanta Braves was to cherish the good even when if it's not going to win a title. I've been a fan of some of the worst franchises in the history of professional sports. I loved every second of prime Dirk..well, until Cuban decided to dismantle the championship team. But I still enjoyed Dirk..
