Default Josh Reaves Joining Mavericks On Two-Way Deal

June 21st, 2019 at 12:55pm CST by Arthur Hill
The Mavericks will sign Penn State’s Josh Reaves to a two-way contract, tweets Jonathan Givony of ESPN. Their interest was first reported by ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.

The 6’5″ shooting guard averaged 10.6 points and 5.0 rebounds during his senior season with the Nittany Lions. He was named Defensive Player of the Year in the Big 10.

Dallas ended the season with its two-way spots occupied by Daryl Macon and Kostas Antetokounmpo, who are both free agents.

Penn State Basketball’s Josh Reaves has found a way into an NBA roster. The former Nittany Lion signed a two-way contract with the Dallas Mavericks, allowing him to play for up to 45 days in the big leagues while he spends the rest of his time with the Mavericks’ G-League team, the Texas Legends.

The 2019 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, Reaves left a lasting legacy. He finished second on the team in steals with 250, and is the only Big Ten player to have led the conference in steals for three consecutive seasons. He tallied 1,079 career points, 540 rebounds, and 310 assists to go along with the steals.

There was little doubt that Reaves would get to showcase his versatility in the NBA, as most of the feedback from each workout was very positive. Now he has the chance to prove he can be a mainstay in the NBA, as Tim Frazier before him has shown.

Congratulations to Josh, and may the future be very bright!

@All_Things_Mavs: Josh Reaves, an undrafted free agent that signed with Dallas, will be signed to an Exhibit 10 deal, according to @townbrad. Original report had Reaves receiving a two-way deal from the Mavs.
