Default Tell us about your favorite trade/free agent signing in Mavs history!

As mentioned in the thread title, please tell us about your favorite moment in Mavs history when it comes to a trade or free agent signing. Don't just tell us what it is, but tell us all about it. Your mindset, your expectations, etc.

My favorite must be when they signed Tony Romo... only kidding. However, that was cool.

Let's not include draft day trades like Luka and Dirk. I know who it is for me, but I am more interested in what you all think. Anyway, for me I was never more excited than when we had the DUST chip, and I knew we'd eventually cash it in... and, boy, did we ever!

My favorite Dallas trade was Aguirre for Dantley, but I was a Bad Boys fan at the time (I know y'all hated that one!)

So if we're talking about a trade that benefited the Mavs, I'd say Harris for Kidd.

The trade for Nick Van Exel and Raef LaFrentz

We went from an OK team to one that had a legit shot to win it all. Hell if it hadn't been for a Dirk injury we WOULD have won it all. NVE's swagger and toughness made me feel like the Mavs were due to break through at any time (although it took another 9 years)

Eff 'em!

Josh Howard, Drew Gooden, Q Ross and James Singleton for Caron Butler, Brendan Haywood, and Deshawn Stevenson.

Dallas immediately transitioned from a pretender to a borderline elite team. Dirk got paired with the best center in his career (only to be one-upped by Chandler a year later), and Butler and Stevenson were both key contributors to the championship team. Butler had an unfortunate injury but he was a big part of the great regular season start.

That 2010 first round flameout still turns my stomach. I think the Mavericks could have made a legitimate run with that team.

Yep, J-Ho for Butler/Haywood was epic.

I was a big Caron Butler fan. I used to wreck people in NBA 2K with him. His step back was unstoppable. Seemed like a good dude too. Really wish he could have made it back to play 1 game in the 2011 Finals, but I won’t complain about the outcome that year!

Dale Ellis for Al Wood has to go down as the most memorable trade in Mavs history.

But Kurt Nimphius for James Donaldson was one of my favorite trades.

The best draft by far was 1981.....Aguirre/Blackman/Vincent.

Best FA signing was Brad Davis.

Showing my age here.

I liked Tuff Juice a lot. I wish he had finished his comeback to play a couple of games in the championship series. It would have meant a lot to him
