Why make the trade to waive him vs just waiving Roby?

Isn't there a CBA rule where you can waive a player immediately upon acquiring them and get the cap savings?

it doesn't sound like Dallas is gonna keep Patton, per source. this is a roster clearing move.

This can double as the Isaiah Roby appreciation thread. At least you know a move is coming and coming soon...

Roby has a guaranteed contract for this year. Maybe Patton doesn't...

If Bogdon pulls that then Kings are in a tough spot and they'll have to call around the league for suitors. We may not be the highest bidder, but they don't really have the option
1) They don't give him his QO and he becomes a UFA and walks this summer. Kings get nothing

2) They do give him his QO and don't match a huge offer (There is some big money this summer and not many FAs to spend it on. ) Kings lose him for nothing

3) They give him his QO and match any offer. They've now signed a player who doesn't want to be there to a huge contract, perhaps even making him untradable. They don't lose him, but if he continues to pout, he lowers his value and the contract already makes it tough.

I think the Kings would wait for Bogdan to sign somewhere and match. And then trade him in december for value....

I really dont see Vlade trading him now to the Mavs after the whole Bagley-Luka disaster...

When he's waived, he should receive a tribute thread.

I was a fan of his in college. Did he get injured or something?

I think he went in the lottery.

Pick #16 in 2017... I have no idea what happened, but he keeps bouncing around -- doesn't look like he's been able to stick anywhere.
