Don’t teams travel with more than one jersey? Gray is a terrible color choice for a jersey though.

I’m all for it. Just surprised. Both teams played this like a playoff game with starter minutes. Paul George played over 40.

What a testy physical game. Great win for the Mavs. Let's build on it.

Games like this I wonder what I did to deserve to root for the team with Luka f'in Doncic on it.

It looked like he was complaining to the refs, but them played it off like he was pumping up the crowd or celebrating.

The only thing missing from this game was Paul George sucking

I wanted a win + him sucking but I'll take the win by it self LOL

If the Mavs could just cut down on turnovers I think they could take the Clippers in a series that plus the offensive boards they keep letting that dude Zubac get was the only downside in these two games.

Big series coming up vs Portland and Richardson has to be the guy defending Lillard not sure why Rick uses anyone else.

he did it twice in the last few minutes raising both hands
one after that alley oop to maxi (Get up Maxi! - i thought it was too high but he got it)
and then after that very pretty floater in the lane

i'm sure he was pumped

kawhi walked off right after the end but PG and Luka hugged it out after and PG gave him the little head rub - it's like some of the established stars look at him as little brother. i mean he's only 22 now but interesting...

yeah good sportsmanship by George but I still despise that dude for some reason.

I don't like Morris either

When you’re a star and another younger star puts you on skates I guess you have to wise up. Good on them catching up after. (Still don’t like PG lol). But I have an irrational dislike for Kawhi.

And I flat out hate Morris and Lou.

What a gritty performance by the entire team. Playoff level defense and mental toughness to withstand every run they made.

JRICH displayed the hustle and is getting closer to what we hoped he would be.

Luka. Is. Amazing.

Gotta get KP more involved still.

THJ with some good rebounds and solid defense.

I guaranteed a win and came through. We're going streaking again! The only thing that stopped the previous one is Rick sitting our best 2 players vs OKC.

Let's goo

Yeah that game was still puzzling especially since you had just moved ahead of the Spurs.

It's even more puzzling when you consider the Clippers never rested George or Leonard this week despite playing 3 games in 4 nights.

Mavs are doing the opposite of some of these top teams who are going all out to get a higher seed and RC stated we can expect even more games like that OKC game where his stars rest.

KP I understand - i'm all for keeping an eye out on his minutes.
Luka not so much...

Only watched the end of the game but when KP came back in the last few minutes he was not involved on offense at all. He jacked up that near airball 3 with about 10 seconds left on the clock and that was a red flag. I think Rick needs to be intentional about getting him some touches when he comes in the game. call a play or two for him or something.

Yea. I think having the crowd enhances Lukas performance. So more home games we can get the better if we aren't in playoff bubble. . Idk about the rest of the team but Luka thrives on the fans and cheers. Once he gets it rolling it's crazy.

Yeah, I mentioned that earlier with KP

Luckily late in the 3rd qtr he started getting touches and he became a factor.

But then again in the 4th qtr he kind of vanished again but I think he sat out half the qtr. That 3-PT heave by him is what i was talking about earlier when he goes long stretches of games without a shot he's likely to force that shot up regardless of the situation.

But hey KP is playing much better this past month and he had 13 rebounds tonight even though he wasn't getting many shots.

They even played him with WCS for a few minutes which was good to see instead of putting Powell's ass in the game.

on one switch he ended up with Mann on him. Granted shot clock was down to like 10 at that point but would have been nice to try to feed him the ball there.

Imagine how well an extremely athletic and emerging Saddiq Bey would have paired with Luka et al. Hurts to miss that one.

Do you have any thoughts in your head that don't involve this borderline homoerotic fixation on Saddiq Bey? Are YOU Saddiq Bey? I get it, Detroit sucks.

Easily the biggest win of the season. Luka only added to his legend, Richardson looks like the guy we traded for, and even KP quietly had a decent game. 11 points is not good, but he was very active on defense.

People still haven’t caught on yet, but the mavs are actually putting together a good season after such a rocky start.

We have a Bey! and a Josh Green. (probably our two most athletic guys, and could easily be our best defenders on the team, with a bit of PT). Tyler Bey might become just as good as Saddiq. But Rick won't find out and won't develop him. Green and Bey need 10 mins every game. No excuses.

FYI - Saddiq would be riding the pine, if we drafted him

I would love to be wrong about this, but I’m going to say that the odds of that are absolutely astronomical. No way. Statistically speaking, Tyler is unlikely to ever be a productive NBA player just given his draft position. Saddiq is already a very quality player.

Possibly. But I doubt that too. He probably wouldn’t get as many minutes as he should, but Carlisle wouldn’t totally sit him if he’s clearly better than the other players in practice. Carlisle is stubborn but he’s not stupid.

I feel like multiple teams would put a far better offers than that. Green and Terry are completely unproven. You can barely even call them prospects at this point. Orlando is going to want a player that’s actually proven something in the NBA and/or a high first round pick. Two guys who are racking up DNP’s in the G league are not going to entice anybody.

And before anybody mentions it, yes I know Terry has actually been good in the G league. I was exaggerating for dramatic affect.

Which is another problem with never playing them. You can't raise value in guys to make "we need help now" moves if you draft guys and then bench them. In fairness to them especially Tyler, he went wild in the G league. It's not like any of them went there and didn't prove anything, especially Bey.

These guys deserve some looks, we have had opportunity for them to play but Rick just doesn't do it. Maybe he likes them so much that he doesn't want Donnie to move them lols.

Really? They are trying to make the playoffs. Bey was a second round pick.

No disrespect but that type of attitude is exactly why it's hard for some fans to understand the direction of this franchise when it comes to rookies beyond Luka and Brunson.

This is not a championship team.

In fact you could make an argument that the Mavs are borderline playoff team and there are several teams trying to make the playoffs just like the Mavs yet they also find ways to play their rookies.

Memphis plays Bane 22.7 MPG, Boston plays Peyton Pritchard 20 MPG, New York plays Immanual Quickley 19 MPG, San Antonio plays Vassell 17.4 MPG, Denver plays Campazzo 17 MPG and Miami plays Precious Achiwua 13 MPG

Now explain to me how those teams in the middle of a playoff race have been playing their rookies all year.

How do those teams differ from Dallas?

The sad part is and I seriously feel this way this........I don't think some of those rookies listed would ever had sniffed the floor in they were in Dallas this year.

In fact I watched a few Golden St games and Nico Mannion since returning from the G-League has gotten minutes every game.

Brad Townsend: Mavericks media notes for tomorrow’s game at Portland list Willie Cauley-Stein as out due to “health and safety protocols.” Finney-Smith and Tyrell Terry (both for personal reasons) also are out. 3 hours ago – via Twitter townbrad

The Mavs are making the point themselves that they are a borderline playoff team. No need for any of us to.

The difference between us and 3 of the teams you named is that they play in the East. It's gonna take less wins to get in. Also, we got ourselves into a hole with the covid business, so we are fighting back out of it. That said, I still absolutely agree that Rick isn't consistent with the kids. We have had opportunities to play them and just aren't. That's on Rick.

All rookies and situations are different, and the Mavs are just flat out better than SA, Memphis, and NY, and in a much different part of their trajectories. Campazzo is not exactly a rookie, given that he’s played professional basketball for many years. Pritchard got opportunities with the Celtics because they were short handed and he produced. Much like Jalen Brunson.

All these guys were drafted higher than Bey. You certainly don’t need an “excuse” to not force him into a 10 minute per night role. That’s just crazy.

That's an offensive red herring trying to deflect from the fact that the Mavs had an obvious chance to build a real strong young core through the draft and blew it with a pick on a player that will likely never contribute to this team's success.

Isn't he talking about our rookies in general not just Bey? Green was drafted higher than all of the ones listed except Vassel I think.

Do I wish the rookies would get minutes so we could see what they are and so they could develop? Yes. Do I agree with the way Carlisle has always kept his young players on such a short leash? Nope. Never have.

That being said, it's very unrealistic to expect second round picks to get consistent minutes in their rookie seasons, particularly for playoff teams. And as for Green, yes I wish we could see more of him, but in fairness to Rick, the little bit we have seen of Green this season didn't exactly make me clamor for more. Rookies have to earn their minutes like everyone else, and Green looked very raw every time he stepped out there, and he couldn't hit the broadside of barn- which is very disconcerting considering we drafted him to be a 3-and-D specialist. Nothing I saw from Green so far made me think he deserved minutes over any of the other guys on the roster. Carlisle has always been too conservative with his young players, yes, but in this particular instance, he might be right to let them cut their teeth in the G-League.
