Rick was caught underhanded. He needed to play players that have higher IQs and motors.

DFS thinks way too much. Either jab step, pass, one dribble. Or occasionally a 3. Very hesitant.

He's still young, hopefully that's something he gets figured out.

Good to see Luka back on the floor. Now that the starters are in, if Luka doesn't touch the ball, watch how offensive flow stagnates compared to the 2nd teamers who were just in.

They play rather disjointed. I think it's mainly due to Barnes ISO play and Wes can barely dribble. That removes 2 good passing cogs needed for offensive ball movement. It's further exacerbated by DSJ's poor decision making.

DSJ driving to the basket is okay, but I hate his wild acrobatic shots. He's just not a good enough finisher for that. He should kick it out instead when he's facing a rim protector like Embiid. Poor IQ.

Okay so if DSJ can’t play in Charlotte in front of family every game, he needs to play off ball always. Straight up he can’t run an offense.

DSJ does himself a disservice by trying to avoid contact when he drives. He needs to drive with an eye towards contact that draws fouls imo. He isn't a good enough finisher to not seek out the contact imo.

It’s gotten to where the starters aren’t even fun to watch. The bench tonight is watchable but cough cough Maxi/Brunson/Ryan

Starters are losing us this game. Even Luka seems uninspired tonight

I’ve been holding off judgement for a long time here, but Harrison Barnes is fucking garbage. Yeah he can score 30 points, but he will involve no one else in the offense and seems increasingly inefficient.
I would be shopping him and Wes to be honest.

Ha! Jordan blocked by the rim.0-8
How a group of NBA starters can go minutes without scoring is beyond me.

I'd also much rather see how Salah fares a bit with the first teamers in place of Powell when DJ is out. Maxi would be my first choice, but that's not going to happen, so I might as well look at another more desirable option than Powell.

Agree. Outside of Luka dribble driving to score or create space to pass, I've enjoyed the 2nd team with Ryan/Brunson/Maxi more than any other ensemble on the floor tonight.

We can see the b2b wear on Luka because he looks bad. But good job starters, way to increase the deficit. Ryan and Maxi will save the day.

It's like we regressed to first 10 games of the season form. Just horrible

When will Rick actually be held accountable for not being good? I've asked this question for many seasons. 2011 was a long time ago...

Problem is, who is available that is any better? It is frustrating to watch his method at times, but we wasted so many years of Dirk with Nellie and Avery, I hate to think of wasting years of Luka with a coaching carousel.

I kind of like the group out there, but Luka needs to be on the court right now. I'd put Luka in Brunson's spot running point. Luka/DJ/Ryan/Maxi/DFS

This might be the time to hold him accountable.
Mavs are unwatchable. I know the talent isn't there, but they're playing lazy and they're worse now than at the beginning of the season. A coach is responsible for two things
1) Having the team play up to potential
2) Having the team improve over time
They haven't done either. The buck stops with him.

Start the bench and make every starter not named Luka earn minutes.

Philly made adjustments to shut down our second unit. Rick seems incapable of making adjustments too. He literally fails at all three things a coach should do.

This team is in utter freefall. It's not even like we're just not that great and losing by 1-2. We just don't even look like an NBA team. We're slow. We're unmotivated. We're losing in every single metric.

I started watching late..why has look not been playing?
SMH another L.....We need to make moves to help Luka take us to the playoffs and if that includes coaching moves then so be it but def. roster moves.
We shouldn't waste any of Lukas years without trying everything possible to make sure we are in the playoffs and eventually competing for a title. We did that too many times with Dirk.

The cycle of Mavs fans
1) Oh, there's a Mavs game today. I'm pumped!
2) Oh crap, the starters look like they shot heroin before the game.
3) Oh damn, down 10-20 points in the first
4) Oh good, the second unit brought them back to within single digits!
5) Oh, the starters came back in and now it's -25. Maybe the second unit can bringthem back
6) They didn't
7) Starters back in and playing even worse. Should I keep watching?
8) Who am I kidding? I hate myself. I'll finish this terrible game.
9) Same as step one. Excited for another game.
