Donic is a much better defender than scouted. Shocks me that's the case since we live in a day and age where something like that shouldn't be overlooked. And yet...

Anyone who watched him excessively knew he was going to be an excellent team defender and smart positional player. He played borderline elite defense during the 2017 Eurobasket.

Beating up on scrubs in the preseason is nice and all, but I'm eager to see Luka play a real NBA game... I see all the tools to succeed, I just want to see how he fares in a game that matters.

Man, if the likes of Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, Robert Covington are scrubs, he's gonna cruise the NBA against teams that don't have that kind of talent. Also if Doncic averages under 5 assists this season, it will be because either he's not being given enough ball handling duties or the other starters have terrible shooting seasons. He should easily be averaging 6-7 if he's used probably, in particular he needs to get way more pick and roll plays run for him than he had in pre-season. Literally his best skill is playmaking out of pick and rolls.

Does anyone really give 100% in preseason though? AND that goes for Doncic as well. He and Smith looked pretty good together, but I never thought I was watching them go all out which would be unnecessary in preseason.

Did Luka only play against 3 players all preseason long? I mean, the Beijing Ducks weren't even up to EuroLeague standards -- that was basically a charity exhibition... So yeah, I'd like to see how he fares against a real NBA squad that's playing all its starters full minutes while trying to actually win a game rather than evaluating borderline talent that may or may not fill out the end of a bench.
That doesn't mean I doubt Doncic at all, I just want to see him do it "for real" now.

@DoncicStan: Players younger than 20 years old to average 18+ Points and 4+ Assists in their first three games.
2003 Lebron James
2018 Luka Doncic

I was only right about blocks and turnovers. Rest I was wrong! Thank goodness! I really wanted to be dead wrong.

I feel like we need the same for his Sophomore season.
Points: 22.9
Reb: 8.4
Ast: 6.5
Blk: 0.3
Stl: 1.4
TO: 3.2
I say it'll be tough to predict with the fact that there will be some key changes during that season for him. I simply compared the rookie and sophomore seasons for the greatest rookie performances of all-time: LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, David Robinson, Larry Bird, Allen Iverson, Tim Duncan, and Hakeem Olajuwon.
If his improvement resembles the improvement of LeBron James between his first two seasons we could see this:
Points: 27.6 (~130%)
Reb: 10.5 (~135%)
Ast: 7.3 (~122%)
Blk: 0.3 (~100%)
Stl: 1.5 (~138%)
TO: 3.2 (~94%)

I’m gonna hold off on predicting his sophomore stats until after free agency... Like, if we somehow landed another superstar, then his PPG will probably drop while his APG are likely to skyrocket.
