Where's that guy who always blamed Parsons for everything when you need him?

Can't say that I'll miss him. I do miss the guy he replaced though in the Matrix, and I wish all of the money that went to him went to Dirk instead.

I think there was a lot to like about Parsons. Work ethic, he loved Dirk and the franchise. And he certainly is a talented young man, but still needs to proof his performance can constantly match his ego.

In the end injuries got in the way and that can happen. Might help to remember that he came here as a consolation prize. They gave him a shot and it didn't work out.

Parsons, for his sake, says he understands the parting was just business, admits that if he were them, he would have been hesitant about signing a player with two knee surgeries to a $95 million deal.
__________________________________________________ ________________________

In the postmortem, Cuban contends a long-term deal for Parsons was never in the offseason plans due to medical concerns. "Once we knew about the knee injury, our goal was to get him to opt in," Cuban told ESPN, referring to the $16 million player option for this season that Parsons declined.

It was a pitch that Parsons considered "pretty ludicrous," even borderline disrespectful. He never remotely considered it.

"Obviously that sounds nice, but why risk it? My concern is the same as them. You're worried about paying my knee," Parsons says. "You don't want to pay me long term. These other really, really good teams do. If it's too much of a risk for them to pay me for four years, it's way too much of a risk for me to turn down guaranteed $94 million right now. It would make no sense, and no fan, no human, no one in the right mind would not do what I did."

So which is it Parsons? This dude is a flake. In TMac article, the dude flops back and forth. And I think low key had some shit to say about Dirk...saying dirk was being vague/elusive leading up to FA. And that dirk/carlisle/Nelson were jealous how close he was with cuban and making decisions. Didnt call them by name but said people were jealous.

Others being jealous... It is just Parsons lying to himself thinking that he had any power. If he had any, he would have stayed as a member or Dallas Mavericks. Obviously he was given certain input as a third or fourth opinion but this does not mean his words carried any real weight.

From his comment ' others being jealous ' I actually did not read it as other players, more like staff members. It is hard to imagine what players, perhaps other than Ellis, could have been jealous. They butted heads, so maybe there was something in the lines.

Since Parsons did not name anyone, we can assume he could have meant Dirk. But again, it would be Parsons lying to himself. Dirk does not strike as a person who would have been jealous in that situation. He already had unquestionable loyalty and being mild mannered person, he minded his own thing most of the times, rather than going clubbing with Cuban.

TMAC reports Parsons will be sidelined 2 weeks with a bone bruise...already was out in last nights game. Med staff knew what they were doing.

Technically 7.7ppg should be rounded to 8ppg, but your point stands.

Of course, if he can stay healthy, he will eventually work his way to good numbers. It's wouldn't be fair to only judge him based on only his first 6 games after recovering from injury, but that's kinda his MO. Last year he recovered, sucked, played decently for a handful of games, and then got injured again. That's sort of a pattern that he follows. We'll have to see if A) He ever gets better than 8 ppg and B) if he can stay healthy. So far he's already missed time with his knee (although the other knee, so it may be unrelated).

Bone bruise = four weeks or more

Quote:
Chandler Parsons (left knee bone bruise) will be listed as out for all games this coming week and will be re-evaluated in 7-10 days.
The headaches for Parsons owners continue. Even this news is frustrating in the sense that it means he'll miss at least 10 more days, yet it's not dire enough to cut him outright. The Grizz announced that Parsons is "progressing as expected." If you have held onto Parsons this long due to his potential upside, it probably makes sense to stay patient in the hopes he comes out of this latest setback closer to 100%.

I can't help but feel like he's favoring his other knee and that's how it got injured. He took a long time coming back from what was supposed to be very minor procedure this off season. I think that knee is never going to be the same and he's favoring the good one(not so good anymore though maybe) in order to compensate. I'm not sure he's ever going to be the playmaking SF that he bills himself as. Only way for him to stay healthy might be to just be a floor spacer off the bench. Of course his ego would never allow that.

3....2.....1....season ending knee surgery incoming

Quote:
Chandler Parsons - F - Grizzlies

Chandler Parsons (bruised left knee) remains out indefinitely and the Grizzlies haven't updated his status since Dec. 2.
The last report stated that Parsons would be reevaluated in 7-10 days, but 11 days later we've yet to hear anything. James Ennis (calf) returned to practice on Tuesday, and the Grizzlies have offered optimistic quotes about Mike Conley (back), so the complete silence regarding Parsons isn't encouraging. His owners simply have to keep him stashed away while we await concrete information

If he does have another knee surgery, then his career is effectively over. His biggest problem is that he has issues with both knees.

Out of curiosity I have been trying to keep my eye on Grizzlies' forum but have not seen much talk about Parsons there. Either they are so used to injuries or they have forgotten they even have Parsons.

Well Grizzlies are winning, so I'd assume the common fan has little reason to point to injuries. Probably more like a positive 'how good could we be once healthy' attitude rather than 'look how bad we are cause that dude is injured'.

From what I've seen its all over the map in regards to how Grizz fans feel about him. On the positive everyone poos rainbows side they say he's gonna be back in January and anything he contributes is gravy. Then you have the ones who are already wondering if his career is over since he injured his "good" leg by not even receiving contact and he's the most expensive fox sports girl in the NBA.

The Grizzlies are winning because they have Marc Gasol. The guy is one of the most underrated players in the NBA. Parsons is still an excellent fit if completely healthy, but a healthy Parsons is reaching mythological territories these days. We dodged a bullet there, though truth to be told, our tank would be much more devastating with him on board.

They pulled off several close wins...one point, three points...OT etc. Yesterday Cleveland rested pretty much everyone...

They showed a graphic last saturday that games decided within it was either 3 or 5 points I cant recall...Memphis was 10-0. The second best was Cleveland at 5-5. They have struck a lot of luck early on. I cant imagine that continuing.

Meanwhile, Barnes got engaged to his long-term gf this past summer. She has a masters in journalism from UC-B. Not trying to turn everything into a comparison, but it's clear we got the better basketball player and the better man.
