Games against Suns are most important imo. Still, I think Mavs remain as worst 6 teams of the league.

Its really important that Nuggets and/or Blazers getting their shit together. If one of them sits at a 0.500 record on the #8 spot at the TDL and we are 12+ games behind them, we have a legitimate reason to blow it up and trade Bogut and Deron.

And we really need this reason. We are not blowing it up when we are like five games behind #8 just because the team there hangs around 0.400...

Our January schedule is amazingly easy, I expect the worst, meaning the team will embrace the idiotic "we can still turn this around" mentality. No trades, no nothing, just playing .600 ball for the month and distancing ourselves from the 5 worst teams. I really hope I'm wrong though.

I fully expect us to go 12-10, which is worst case scenario.

Dirk Nowitzki: "I don't think we're really playing for draft position. We're playing to win every night, and we'll go from there."

Awful

I can see us winning at least 10 of those games.
This team will probably get a little better as the year progresses so it wouldn't surprise me if we have 20 wins by the trade deadline.

It wouldn't surprise me if we win 5 of the next 7 which would make us 15-26 at the half-way mark and on pace for 30 wins for the season.

Gotta sell tickets, nobody is going to pay to watch intentionally-losing basketball.

Not sure that would have been worse in the grand scheme of things. Sure, that's a terrible contract, but with him on board, we would probably be golden as far as a top 3 pick goes.

LOL, why? Dude had two knee surgeries in what, two years? And wasn't one of them microfracture? it was a no-brainer to let him go. The Grizzlies FO were idiots, I don't think many teams would have signed Parsons for four guaranteed years. He would have gotten a max elsewhere, but I don't think it would have been four years.

Uh Blazers were ready to drop the money too. I believe there was a 3rd team in Orlando. I definitely give them credit for letting Parsons walk. Now, they know they got lucky AF that Barnes dropped into their lap. I think they were just hoping something else popped up on the market when deciding to let Parsons go.

Lets face it. We won't be in the bottom four teams. Its not the way Carlisle will coach or the way Barnes, Mathhews, JJB or Dirk are made. If we get healthy, we just aren't bottom four bad. Too many seasoned vets like JWill, Bogut and Harris who are smart enough to beat some more talented young teams. They don't have enough left in the tank to beat good teams, but in the 4th quarter, they know what it takes to win, where teams like Boston and New Orleans are sill figuring it out.

So while I'd prefer them to lose, they are still my Mavs, so I enjoy it when they win. We're still a bottom 10 team, no matter what. In this draft, we can get a good player. Maybe with the right trades at the deadline, we can get two, while getting bad enough to lose a few more games. We just have to be diligent and not pick a lemon.

I really liked the team's energy and execution in the last three games from a lottery standpoint. We have no chance to outsuck the Nets (Celtics fans should be extatic), but other than them, we still has a decent chance to "compete" with any of the bad teams. Philly won like three out of the last four, and the Wolves aren't tanking either. In fact, they are just really, realy bad in the second halves, but actually play playoff basketball in the first halves.

I could see them going on a little bit of run. Who else is there? Lakers won three of their last four as well, Pelicans are getting healthy, the Kings are slumping but they still have four games on us... Suns won two of their last three and almost beat the Cavs the other night... The truth is, no team is tanking, so things don't look nearly as bad as we thought a week or so ago. Knicks are slumping hard too, but they are five games ahead of us and have a better roster. The Nets will clearly have the lowest number of wins, but we could be top 5 even if we win 28 games, and if we keep playing Dirk, we should be set for a good lottery position.

They already are our rival. They the same 11 wins that we have, but they have two more losses.

Why is Bogut still on this team? Are there not suitors willing to give the Mavs asking price

Saw an article with a Milwaukee lean that proposed a John Henson for Bogut swap. Mentioned the Bucks weren't willing to send picks in any deals, but perhaps with a sweetener they'd include a pick. Not sure what would work, but Henson is intriguing. Only issue is he's probably used best as a defensive PF and that limits Barnes' usage there now and in the future. Don't think Henson holds up well at center.

Yeah, for some reason I thought they had 14 wins.

14 left till all-star break. Don't see how we could do better than 7-7. 5-9 more likely. That would give us 19 wins at the break?

For their think backcourt, the Cavs have been looking to add Denver’s Jameer Nelson, Chicago’s Rajon Rondo or Dallas’ Deron Williams. Any of the three could help the Cavs. Nelson now is serving as Emmanuel Mudiay’s mentor, but could be dealt for the right price. Rondo, every coach’s nightmare, is on the outs in Chicago and in a backup role since being demoted from his starting spot. Williams could be a buyout candidate for the 15-29 Mavs since this looks like a lottery season for Mark Cuban and Dirk Nowitzki. – via Forbes.com

Ronda is a grade A POS, but would obviously work with Cavs. He's only highly regarded bc of what he did in Boston, which honestly wasnt shit. He passed the ball to 3 HOF in their prime and let them work. All Ronda has to do is pass to the stacked Cavs team and drive the ball from time to time.
